For lovers of bad rides and fried food in Costa Mesa, your summer got worse. The OC Fair has been cancelled this year.
From the OC Fair Board, this:
The OC Fair & Event Center Board of Directors voted unanimously to cancel the 2020 OC Fair, one of the most anticipated and enduring summer celebrations in Southern California for 130 years.
The Board considered ongoing guidance and updated information from State and County health care and government officials about the status of the coronavirus pandemic and the improbability that mass gatherings like the OC Fair could safely and responsibly take place this summer.

By July, we will hopefully be on the backside of the curve. But if social distancing and mask wearing from the photos I’ve seen of our OC beaches this weekend is any indication, the Fair would be a nightmare that might increase positive tests of COVID19. You can always get that deep fryer online and fry your own Twinkies.
