Petrie-Norris Endorsed by 10 Women’s Groups

Irvine, CA – Ten separate organizations that advocate for women in politics and government joined together to announce their support for Assemblywoman Cottie Petrie-Norris’ campaign today. The astonishing coalition of organizations includes:

  • California Democratic Legislative Women’s Caucus
  • California Women’s List
  • EMILY’s List
  • Fund Her
  • NARAL
  • National Women’s Political Caucus Orange County
  • Planned Parenthood Community Action Fund of Orange and San Bernardino Counties
  • Run Women Run
  • Women in Leadership
  • Women’s Political Committee

Assemblywoman Petrie-Norris released the following statement regarding the support she has received:
“Like women all across the country, the 2016 election was a profound wake-up call for me. And the simple truth is that women are dramatically underrepresented at every level of our government. Right here in California, we have never elected a female governor and women make up just 31% of our state legislators.

I ran for office to help close that gap, to empower women and to fight for equal pay, reproductive freedom and family friendly policies. I am running for re-election to continue the work we have started. I am honored and grateful to have the support of these incredible organizations–their leadership and commitment inspires me to do more and to be better every day.”

Cottie Petrie-Norris was elected to represent California’s 74th Assembly District in 2018. Over the course of her first year in office, she has had eleven bills signed into law, including important legislation to combat sea-level rise, improve services for veterans, expand access to birth control and save small business owners money. As part of the 2019-2020 State Budget, Petrie-Norris secured $4.5 million to help the Orange County Fire Authority’s Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance project to protect Southern California from wildfires and $2.9 million to end Veteran homelessness in Orange County.

Petrie-Norris serves as Chair of the Assembly’s Accountability and Administrative Review Committee and as Chair of the Select Committee on Student Debt. She also serves on the Assembly’s committees for Appropriations, Judiciary, Revenue and Taxation and Veterans Affairs.

After working her way through Yale University, where she double majored in Economics and English, Cottie Petrie-Norris had a successful 20-year career in finance and technology. She helped to build businesses and led teams at Fortune 500 corporations, small companies and start-ups.

Petrie-Norris lives in Laguna Beach with her husband, Colin, their two sons, Dylan and Hayden, and their rescue dog, Flounder.
