The last quarter for fundraising numbers in the State Senate district 37 race are out and there’s lots of good news to share. Both Democrats — Dave Min of Irvine and Costa Mesa Mayor Katrina Foley are significantly outraising State Senator John Moorlach.
Min’s raised $325K+ to Foley’s $246K+, both well ahead of Moorlach’s nearly $164K. Min had more individual contributions than either Foley or Moorlach and more individual contributions from people who live in the district (Moorlach had only 44!).
Individual contributions make up the majority of Min’s financial support while both Foley and Moorlach have significant contributions from business organizations and PACs. Foley has strong building trade support.
The takeaway here is Moorlach is likely in trouble; it’s not impossible to think that the 2020 top two could be two Democrats.
The numbers are below; Republicans can read them and weep.
