The Democratic Foundation of Orange County will hold a noon luncheon in honor of Assemblywoman Sharon Quirk-Silva on June 7th, 2019 – and you’re invited! Sharon ran an exciting and successful race to defend her seat in California’s 65th Assembly District. In re-electing Sharon, the people of the 65th spoke loudly and clearly – they want intelligent and responsible leadership representing them.
Sharon has worked tirelessly in the California State Assembly, and this is demonstrated by her being a member of numerous committees. As a member of the Committee on Rules, Sharon is responsible for overseeing proposed amendments to the rules, as well as overseeing numerous matters related to the business of the legislature. Sharon is also a member of the Committee on Accountability and Administrative Review, the Committee on Communications and Conveyance, and the Committee on Governmental Organizational. In addition, Sharon has taken part in constructing some of California’s key pieces of legislation. Sharon authored AB 2271, a bill that is helping California’s schools by requiring a state match in federal school kitchen modernization grant funding. She also authored AB 2521, a bill the protects our military reservist from predatory loan lenders. She also authored AB 490, a bill that grants students of the lowest income levels access to Cal Grant B funds. Sharon has proven time and time again that she serves only in the best interest of the people.
Whether it be through her job as a teacher or her time in public office, Sharon has dedicated her entire life to bettering her community. As a lifelong resident of Fullerton, Sharon knows firsthand what her constituents need from their elected representatives. We are extremely proud to have Sharon represent Orange County in the California State Assembly.
