State Controller Betty Yee Endorses Dave Min for State Senate

RELEASE: California State Controller Betty Yee Endorses Dave Min (SD37) For State Senate
Irvine, Calif. — TODAY, Dave Min, UC Irvine law professor and candidate for California’s 37th State Senate District, was endorsed by State Controller Betty Yee. As the state’s chief fiscal officer, Controller Yee acts as as the state’s banker, accountant, and bookkeeper for all public funds. Her endorsement comes on the heels of a number of others – including Representatives Gil Cisneros, Ted Lieu, Alan Lowenthal, and Judy Chu; CDP Secretary Jenny Bach; Newport Local AFT 1794, and others – as well as the campaign’s announcement that it had raised its first $100,000 in less than one month.

“Dave Min is the principled, dedicated, progressive, and pragmatic leader that District 37 needs in the State Senate,” said Controller Yee.  “In addition to his nationally-acclaimed policy work leveling the economic playing field for all Americans, Dave’s knowledge of state-level and local issues make him the candidate best equipped to tackle the big problems facing Orange County – including economic development, women’s rights to make their own healthcare decisions, and access to affordable healthcare.”  

With over 30 years of distinguished public service in state and local finance and tax policy, Controller Yee is one of California’s highest-esteemed public officials.  Before her election as State Controller in 2014, Yee served two terms as a member of the Board of Equalization and as Chief Deputy Budget Director for Governor Gray Davis. She also co-founded the Asian Pacific Youth Leadership Project, which exposes California high school youth to the public service, public policy, and political arenas.
