Spitzer Charges Anaheim Union Protesters with Loitering and Conspiracy

This press release hit the email box on Friday afternoon and it’s related to the planned protest of UNITEHERE 11’s contract negotiations with two hotels in the Anaheim Resort District.  Both contracts were agreed to with less what the Union asked for but union workers do come away with better pay and benefits. New OC District Attorney Todd Spitzer has filed charges against the 21 protesters arrested with include DPOC chair Ada Briceno, DPOC North Vice chair Jeff LeTourneau and Anaheim Councilmember Jose Moreno.

Sources tell TheLiberalOC one hotel had already agreed in principle on the new deal while the second contract was delayed because of this stunt.  The likely punishment in this case is probably community service and a possible fine.

Here’s the press release:

21 PROTESTORS CHARGED WITH LOITERING IN PUBLIC PASSAGEWAY FOR BLOCKING TRAFFIC IN ANAHEIM

SANTA ANA, Calif. – Twenty-one protestors were charged today with loitering in a public passageway for blocking traffic in Anaheim. On Jan. 24, 2019, they were arrested for standing in the intersection of Harbor Boulevard and Katella Avenue and refusing to leave when ordered by the Anaheim Police Department. They are scheduled to be arraigned on April 19, 2019, at 8:30 a.m. in Department N-8, North Justice Center, Fullerton.

“As the District Attorney, I respect the right to protest, but all of us are required to do it in a lawful manner,” said Orange County District Attorney Todd Spitzer. “The right to protest is afforded to everyone; exercising that right does not allow anyone to break the law and bring traffic to a complete standstill.”

The intersection of Harbor Boulevard and Katella Avenue is one of the busiest intersections in the Anaheim Resort District with nearly 40,000 vehicles traveling through the intersection daily.

The following defendants each face one misdemeanor count of unlawful loitering upon public passageway so as to obstruct free passage (Anaheim Municipal Code section 7.28.010), and one misdemeanor count of conspiracy to violate AMC section 7.28.010:

  1. There is a social media post where Victor Valladares, Ada’s “Boy Friday” as it were, brags about all of the new Unite Here 11 “SWAG” she gave him.

I am pretty certain dues paying members would not appreciate their sweat going to a guy who doesn’t’t even have a job………..

Then again, who else can you get to talk voters out of supporting a Democrat (Like Valladares successfully did with Loretta, for the price of an embroidered pull over.

These folks are in WAY OVER THEIR HEAD.

    • Whadda you mean OC DEM, none of the “Activist” clowns associated with Ada have gainful employment. Pretty funny considering she represents “labor”:
      Victor Valladares UNEMPLOYED
      Vern Nelson UNEMPLOYED (UNEMPLOYABLE)
Greg Diamond UNEMPLOYED (Brain Damaged, Kitchen Table Lawyer is NOT a Job).
Jeff LeTurneau UNEMPLOYED (How Does he survive?)
      David Zenger UNEMPLOYED
      Mark Richard Daniels UNEMPLOYED
      Mike Robbins UNEMPLOYED
      Wes Jones UNEMPLOYED
      Lou Noble UNEMPLOYED

Notice a pattern here? Just because Ada speaks Spanish does not make her representative of the people, heck except for “Union Goon” what job does she have?

I hope somebody talks some sense into these fools before 2020, otherwise, lets just coronate Trump now for a second term. Bernie Sanders is not the answer in working class communities. But these idiots DON’T WORK, Therefore, the do not understand.

      • Actually, Jeff owns a private investigations firm. Uncertain what he does actually or who his clients might be. I don’t know Mike, Wes or Lou. Zenger was doing some consulting work for the Fullerton railyard project which appears to be inactive and he paints. I believe Victor works at a pizza place. I believe Mark Daniels was battling cancer so if he’s not working, it’s understandable.

  2. WHERE IS THE MUELLER REPORT?

P.S. – How long did it take for The Starr Report to hit the bookshelves in paperback form? 3 weeks? 4 weeks? I’ll expect to see the paperback of The Mueller Report in stores by May. Or, if not, Bill “ I’ m fatter than Roseanne” Barr will just have to go ahead and shove that 4-page memo up his fat ass!

    • There was considerable debate over a change in the resolution requested by Diana Lee Carey which Farrah supported; several people voted against the resolution without that change which some felt unfairly singled out students from that particular high school when anti-Semitism is a far greater problem throughout Orange County. I supported the resolution but understand why some didn’t vote for it. For what it’s worth, Farrah has been the target of significant anti-Muslim communications. I know one Irvine voter who told her she’d never be elected in Irvine because of her name and faith and I think that’s bigoted.

  3. They should have been charged with violation of this law as well.

    § 21954. Pedestrians outside crosswalks
    (a) Every pedestrian upon a roadway at any point other than within a marked crosswalk or within an unmarked crosswalk at an intersection shall yield the right-of-way to all vehicles upon the roadway so near as to constitute an immediate hazard.

  4. I think you have either an impaired, selective or biased memory. Only 3 people voted against the resolution. Farah Khan, Diana Lee Carey and Michelle Duman. There was no talk about singling out the students, but rather the school district itself, out of concern for the School Board. So the question is really why are 2 Democratic elected officials more interested in protecting a wealthy, majority white, Republican school district than condemning anti-semitism?

    • No, I was there. I’m pretty sure you weren’t. But your wife was. The resolution draft referenced the students from that school district and that’s what Carey wanted changed. The proposed change was voted down. Bigotry and racism are problems throughout the county. To single out Khan’s vote on this resolution is shortsighted given the significant anti-Muslim bias she’s faced from some people in Irvine who didn’t believe a Muslim candidate was electable or that her last name made her unelectable.

  5. Did you see the FOX News & Friends headline/chiron yesterday? It was (I’m not kidding)…

“TRUMP CUTS AID TO 3 MEXICAN COUNTRIES”

Damn, that FAKE FOX “ News” is bullshit !
