Roaming Roman Reyna May Have Trouble Running in Santa Ana

Former Santa Ana council member Roman Reyna is facing serious consequences of not knowing where Ward 4 is in Santa Ana and not only may not be eligible to run for election, but may have broken the law.

Here’s a timeline on his voter registration this Spring and Summer:

5/2/03: 521 S. Townsend, Santa Ana, CA: WARD 5

10/24/16: 2205 W 7th St. Santa Ana, CA: WARD 5

6/27/18: 2519 W Harvard, Santa Ana, CA: WARD 6

7/16/18: 1522 Hemlock Way, Santa Ana: WARD 4

8/2/18: 1218 W Bishop, Santa Ana, CA: WARD 4 (Roman is not registered to vote here, but this is the address he used to pull papers and file.)

Reyna changed his voter registration on June 27, 2018 to the address of 2519 W. Harvard in Ward 6. It’s also the address he used when he filled out his application for the Planning Commission on June 21.

On July 6, the City Clerk asked Reyna to clarify if he was registered in Ward 6. He texted the City Clerk his 2519 W. Harvard address in Ward 6.
When he was told that he was not in the right ward to run for council in Ward 4, he re-registered to vote at 1522 Hemlock Way on July 16, 2018. This was not within the 30 day window to establish residency.  The Santa Ana City Charter Section 401 states that a candidate must a person must be a 30 day resident of the ward at the time nomination papers are issued to run for City Council. Therefore, Reyna would have to have residency in Ward 4 by July 3rd, which he did not.

Reyna was issued his nomination papers on August 2nd using ANOTHER address. In fact, when Reyna pulled papers on August 2nd, he used the address of 1218 Bishop, which appears on none of his previous official documents, including his official voter registration. Reyna has never been registered to vote at that location. His Form 410 (filled out August 3rd), which established his fundraising committee, used the Harvard Address in Ward 6. He presented a makeshift and back dated rental agreement for a room on the 1218 Bishop property. But nothing in the document actually mentions Reyna lives there.

Therefore based upon his voter registration, the form 410, the form 501, and Reyna’s prior office in another ward, Reyna was not a resident of Ward 4 for at least 30 days prior to pulling his nomination papers. By the City Charter, he is NOT eligible to run for City Council.

Text messages obtained as part of a Public Records Request have Reyna engaging in a dialogue with the Santa Ana City Clerk, where he admits that he does not live in Ward 4, and in fact does not even know where Ward 4 is in the city. The City Clerk politely tells him that his address is in Ward 6, to which he replies “yikes” and subsequently asks for a Ward map of the city, a clear indication that Reyna knows that he messed up. The City Clerk also reminds him that documents he turned over were signed under “penalty of perjury,” so this is more serious than one might think.

We have the text messages but WordPress won’t  let me upload the files; it will be done in a different post.

Bottom line:  Roman Reyna has never lived in Ward 4 and is now trying to run there.

  1. Reminds us of someone in 2010 who created three residences in just a few weeks to run for County Supervisor.

    Now who was that?

    Oh, yeah, Lori Gallioway!

    • I attended a party of the home she rented in the Colony; very nice. I don’t have an issue with people moving a short distance to represent those they already represent in another office.

      • Yeah, suuuuure she lived there.

And what about her two addresses right before that?

        Hahaha! She got busted!

        • so what; you want to spend time in 2010, knock yourself out. There is zero evidence you live in the Fourth District. Name drop places all you want, but you’re a big fraud

          • Galloway’s a crook. Ripped off her own aunt. Stiffed MANY creditors over the years and gave the credit for her success to Jesus. It’s all online. Just do a quick search.

Crooked Galloway in 2010, crooked Galloway now. Hears God talking to her, also. No bueno!

  2. Just looked up the case that Becerra filed and he dismissed it. Seems like he doesn’t know what he’s doing Phil is a good guy, but I think should run for office in his hometown of Garden Grove. Santa Ana doesn’t need more carpet baggers.

    • Phil’s been living in Santa Ana for years. He’s been a planning commissioner for years. What’s the over/under on how long someone needs to live in a city before they can run for office?

  3. I’ve believe this when I see it. I don’t think Todd would prosecute political crime either. He’s just as ethically challenged.
