ALISO VIEJO, CA – Gary Pritchard of the Capistrano Unified School District Board formally announced his candidacy today for the Aliso Viejo City Council this November.  The longtime city resident has represented Aliso Viejo on the local school board for the last 8 years.

“For much of the last decade, I have had the pleasure of representing Aliso Viejo and our community as a member of the Capistrano Unified School District Board, where I successfully fought to restore stability, attract top quality teachers, and assure our tax dollars were efficiently spent on safe, well-maintained schools for our children,” said Pritchard, a College Dean.

“I am proud of the fact that during my service on the board, both the Orange County Business Council and Orange County Taxpayers Association formally recognized our successful work to reduce annual property taxes by $73 Million and eliminate Mello Roos assessments across Aliso Viejo.”

“Now I would like to utilize the experience, skills, and knowledge I developed as a local school board member, to represent our community as a member of the Aliso Viejo City Council,” continued Pritchard.  “I care deeply about the future of our city, and as a strong, passionate, and experienced advocate for Aliso Viejo, its families, and its business community, I look forward to having a positive impact on its future.”

Gary Pritchard currently works as a Dean at Cerritos College, where prior to his administrative appointment, he served as a Professor for 14 years.  His teaching experiences additionally include serving as an adjunct and visiting lecturer at UC Irvine’s School of Social Sciences; the Claire Trevor School of the Arts; and at California State University, Long Beach.

Pritchard holds a Ph.D. from University of California, Irvine (UCI); a Masters degree from the Claremont Graduate School; a Bachelors degree from Chapman University; and a Management Develop Program certificate from Harvard University’s Graduate School of Education.  A longtime homeowner in Aliso Viejo, he lives with his wife — a pediatric nurse and military veteran, and their children in the Vista Pointe Ridge area of town.
