“It’s been incredible. We’re already hitting max capacity a month out, the demand is huge,” said Fran Sdao, Chair of the Democratic Party of Orange county (DPOC). “This has a direct impact on services we can provide, so of course we’re thrilled.”

The Keynote Speaker is Congressman Adam Schiff. Schiff is Ranking Member (top Democrat) of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence and a vocal critic of the Trump Administration’s handling of the Russia investigations. Past speakers include Keith Ellison, Julian Castro, Barney Frank, and Gavin Newsom.

Honorees include Sodexo workers of the National Union of Healthcare Workers (NUHW), receiving the Dolores Huerta Labor Award; California State Senator Kevin de León, recipient of the Social Justice Award; and Jennifer Muir Beuthin, General Manager of the Orange County Employees Association, who will receive the Truman Award.

The Harry S. Truman Awards Dinner raises community funds for core Democratic Party operations to train, organize and elect Democrats in Orange County. It is named after Democratic President Harry S. Truman, a Democrat who defied the odds, desegregated the US Armed Forces, and championed Medicare and anti-poverty initiatives.

The 24th Annual Harry S. Truman Awards Dinner is Saturday, August 25th from 5:30-9:00 pm at the Hilton Hotel in Costa Mesa. Doors open at 5:00 pm.
