
The 50,000 member-strong Southwest Regional Council of Carpenters has added their powerful voice to the campaign of Democrat Mike Levin for Congress in CA49.
“Mike Levin will fight for working families and deserves our support,” stated Carpenters Union Business Agent, John Souza, a resident of Vista. “We have much work to be done to build the houses, schools, hospitals, offices, bridges and power plants to help America grow. Mike will fight to create workforce training opportunities for San Diego and Orange County young people, so they can afford to live and work in the communities they grew up in. Mike Levin in Congress will be a step towards ending the paralysis of partisan politics focusing on the future.”

The Southwest Regional Council of Carpenters, representing skilled union construction workers in Central and Southern California and all or parts of 6 additional western states, is the largest Council in the international United Brotherhood of Carpenters. Some of the highly skilled crafts they represent include finish carpenters, drywallers, bridge builders, floor installers, shinglers, pile DRIVERS, cabinet makers and insulators. Founded in 1881, the Carpenters Union in one of the nation’s most respected and influential labor organizations.
Mike Levin is building strong support in the labor movement. The International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW), Local 569 and the International Longshore and Warehouse Union (ILWU), Locals 13, 63, and 94 have endorsed Levin.
Additionally, Levin has been endorsed by the Congressional Progressive Caucus PAC, the Congressional Hispanic Caucus BOLD PAC, the Progressive Change Campaign Committee, Democracy for America, the National Organization for Women and the California League of Conservation Voters.
Levin’s strong organizational support reflects the growing consensus that he is the strongest candidate to lead Democrats to a victory in the crucial 49th District. Levin is waging a powerful campaign, having mobilized over 15,000 small donors and hundreds of grassroots volunteers.
