Former Ed Royce aide and AD-65 assembly representative Young Kim is in the race for Congress for the GOP in CD-39. Former State Senator Bob Huff is also in. The rumor is OC BoS 4th district supervisor Shawn Nelson is about to announce but we are unable to confirm that.
As Kim is Royce’s aide and has his support, she now owns Royce’s awful record in Congress and must run on defending that record and continuing it. With multiple Republicans challenging multiple Democrats, someone will emerge on both sides.
Kim’s exit from the race makes it significantly easier for Democrat Joe Kerr to position himself for Nelson’s seat on the County BoS.
