Fullerton, CA – The Los Angeles County Firefighters Association (IAFF Local 1014), who represent firefighters and paramedics in the City of La Habra, announced their enthusiastic support of Joe Kerr for County Supervisor today.
“Los Angeles County firefighters and paramedics in La Habra are proud to join with first responders from every city in Orange County’s 4th Supervisorial District in supporting Joe Kerr,” said Los Angeles County Firefighters President Dave Gillotte. “As a retired fire captain, Joe will bring an important and needed perspective to the Orange County Board of Supervisors, and we can count on him to find long-term solutions to the problems facing the region.”
The Los Angeles County Firefighters (IAFF Local 1014) represent over 3,200 firefighters, paramedics, dispatchers, pilots, wildland firefighters, forestry personal, and health hazmat personnel throughout Southern California.
Joe Kerr is a second-generation professional firefighter who served as a fire captain with the Orange County Fire Authority and Orange County Fire Department for over 25 years. He was the first President of the Orange County Professional Firefighters Association, the former Vice President of the California Professional Firefighters, as well as a former Vice President of the Orange County Central Labor Council (AFL-CIO).
Joe was named Fireman of the Year by the Cypress Fire Department in 1979, Overachiever of the Year by the Orange County Firemen’s Association in 1984, and Fire Captain of the Year by the Orange County Fire Department in 1986. In 1981, he was given a Certificate of Merit from the Orange County Board of Supervisors for his role in responding to the Air California jetliner crash at John Wayne Airport. He was also presented with the Courage Under Fire Award in 1999 for rescuing and reviving a non-breathing occupant who was trapped in a residential structure fire. After retiring in 2012, Joe received numerous awards and recognitions for helping to save the life of a baby who was drowning in a swimming pool and had stopped breathing.
Joe grew up in La Habra and Cypress. He and his wife, China, are the proud parents of a 13-year-old son.
Shocking news.
Meanwhile Coto Joe lives in the 5th District, not the 4th. Did he fail geography or are we really supposed to believe he lives in some dude’s spare room in Brea?
Can you prove you live in the District?
I don’t have to prove I live here. I’m not running for office here. Kerr does.
You’re backing another carpetbagger who’s going to lose. Remember Sukhee kang?
What’s the over/under on how long someone needs to live somewhere before the carpetbagger label is gone? Mimi Walters doesn’t live in her district when she was a state senator. Josh Newman lived in Fullerton for a short time before running for Senate. And This issue only seems to mater when the candidate is a Democrat.
Well, for starters, once could try actually LIVING in the district – not fake a residence in some dude’s spare room in Brea while the wife and kid linger in Coto. That just looks terrible. Because it is.
I hear Josh Newman has a very nice house that he bought long before he decided to run against the blatant carpetbagger Sukhee Kang.
“And This issue only seems to mater when the candidate is a Democrat.”
You mean like Lori Galloway from Anaheim Hills? Ha!
But don’t forget harry Sidhu, Republican, and if you go back far enough you’ll find the Republican wife of Tricky Dick Ackerman who got beat badly because she faked an address up here.
North OC hates ‘baggers, pure and simple.
Are we supposed to believe you live in the Fourth District
