SACRAMENTO – The California Latino Caucus today announced they have endorsed Antonio Villaraigosa for Governor of California in 2018.
“The Latino Caucus is proud to endorse Antonio Villaraigosa for Governor,” said Senator Ben Hueso (D-San Diego), Chair of the Latino Caucus. “As Assembly Speaker and Los Angeles Mayor, Antonio Villaraigosa worked to strengthen our economy, expand our healthcare, improve our schools and invest in strategic infrastructure projects that create middle class jobs. He understands the struggles and challenges of working families and will represent all of the people of the Golden State wherever they live.”
The California Latino Caucus is one of the most influential organizations within the State Legislature. Its members hold strategic leadership positions and focus primarily on improving the quality of life for working families in California. Currently, due to the changing demographics of California, it is apparent that the issues affecting Latinos in California are issues that affect all Californians.
“As a former member of the Latino Caucus, it is truly humbling to earn their endorsement,” said Antonio Villaraigosa. “As Governor, my number one priority will be to create more economic opportunity and greater economic equality throughout California.”
In recent months, the California Latino Caucus has voted to endorse Ed Hernandez, O.D., for Lieutenant Governor; Xavier Becerra for Attorney General; Alex Padilla for Secretary of State; Ricardo Lara for Insurance Commissioner; and Tony Thurmond for Superintendent of Public Instruction.
