   • Was he drunk? Did you buy a round or 2? Vern makes almost no money. He lived with his parents in HB in his 50s before getting married to live in an apartment his wife rents in Anaheim. Vern is a failure as a son, a husband and as a man.

   It seems like the liberal blogs in OC are all run by petty little men.

   You, Art, Greg and Gustavo and to a lesser degree, Vern have all indulged in a nasty back and forth for years and the ONLY thing you have accomplished is discrediting yourselves and the left.

   What a sorry excuse you ALL are for supposedly progressive people.

   • I’m sorry you feel this way; this blog believes in political discourse and quite frankly I watched a friend post an anonymous comment slightly critical of Greg Diamond from the Apple store once (while admonishing them not to) only to never see that comment not published. About 4 people are banned from commenting here for repeated abusive behavior, but generally speaking I allow commentary. I do not comment at the OJ blog and I do not edit comments posted here. They post or they don’t. At times, a comment is posted and I don’t see it for several hours.

     Vern’s troubles are his own making. He is a publisher of a political blog, he is critical of various law enforcement groups and he is a husband. I asked yesterday and I will ask you; if the shoe was on the other foot and I was facing felony DUI, do you think the OJ blog would leave it alone?

     I am not writing about Vern’s troubles in a post. However, as a commenter has noted, he was arrested while his wife was a candidate for Anaheim City Council. That detail was hidden for months. And for people who talk about good governance, honesty and integrity, they failed to demonstrate that since April 2016.

     • I can’t say what the OJBlog would say if it were you, but I am sick of all the petty, nasty comments by all involved. Every time there’s an issue not only do you all insult and make nasty digs at each other, but you allow anonymous commenters to pile on with vile and irrelevant insults.

       Vern obviously has alcoholism issues and where that information would be relevant and was hidden he’s open to criticism, but comments about his family or financial situation are hideous and those commenters are small, evil minded pr*cks and should be banned.

       Why is Greg Diamond’s looks, financial and marital situation always bandied about? How is that relevant? Those comments are just an excuse for sh*tty human beings to be sh*tty to someone anonymously.

       I just want to be able to come to these sites and not have to read all the blog owners slinging mud at each other and see the comments keeping to the subject at hand. It’s well past time this personal cr*p was laid to rest.

             In the end I think you’ve all damaged your reputations by indulging in this pettiness. Every time I hear Gustavo on the radio all I can think of is what a thin-skinned jerk he is. Greg ruined the OJBlog by also being a thin-skinned jerk and Art completely ruined his credibility with his attacks on you and others.

   • Exactly. Nelson was also colluding with the notorious OVSD school board trustee president, the thuggish union queen, Gina Clayton Tarvin – carrying her water in his columns at this very same time. Was she aware of it? He was working closely with the district at that time- how appropriate is that? This entire mess calls for a full investigation in my opinion – a cover up obviously occurred here.

8. After reading a thread from this site published last year and now current revelations I think I am up to speed. A candidate for Anaheim City Council was claiming the Anaheim Police Department wrongfully killed her son with absolutely no proof. As a matter of fact all evidence indicated he was totally in the wrong . She also was likely aware of her husband’s felony arrest for DUI and kept it quiet during her election campaign. Additionally she showed up at an event with a black eye and got defensive when asked what had happened. Vern’s son was also on video in a scuffle with Oceanside Police Department and Vern defended the action as self-defense. Vern and his wife are politically involved in the community and outspoken critics of anyone who disagrees with them and many law enforcement agencies. It’s my opinion this information should be public given their involvement in the community, the particular circumstances of the situations and the impact they try and effect on the community.

   • It’s kind of crazy, if you look at Vern’s wild attacks on people last spring/summer they are all right on the heels of his felony DUI arrest. WTF was he thinking? He also knew his wife was running then. He made no efforts to dial his behavior back or show some common sense/humility. Is he really that reckless and clueless? Or just a total raging out of control drunk?

9. Vern needs to go to jail for many years. Greg needs to be exposed for hiding this arrest for a long time as unethical. DOnna needs to be called out as a liar and a fraud. 11. Over on OJ Blog- Greg Diamond wiped out EVERY comment discussing Vern’s latest DUI arrest – including the questions to him about what the news was covered up during Donna’s campaign last year. He left up the previous heinous comments by Vern and others of course- attacking myself and others. And I cannot even post a comment any more. This really touched a nerve. What is Greg hiding I wonder? Super suspicious behavior in my opinion. “Political mosh pit?” Yeah, right. More like a fascistic echo chamber. Does it get any more sleazy and sketchy than the Vern/Donna/Greg show?

12. So let it be known- the OJ Blog- with Greg Diamond at the helm is nothing more than a bastion of censorship and speech policing. They can cherry pick comments all day long and surgically remove what doesn’t fit their narrative. Doesn’t change the fact that they covered up Vern’s arrest last year as his wife ran for office. There is a story in there obviously and it will be told.

15. My understanding is Vern is in rehab (makes one wonder who is paying for that) and that his wife is managing the blog (and approving comments).

    Henry “Paul” Lipton askedd last week that if Vern was truly remorseful and full of regret why did he wait a year to go into rehab…..right before trial? Good point.

    Paul, errr Henry ought to know, he was (or still is) a METH user. Now that junk is hard to kick. In his case Jail helped him “dry out” is that what Vern is planning on? I don’t know.

    VERN PATRICK NELSON (VPN) Case Number: 17NF0573
    4/08/16 – VPN Arrested in Anaheim, CA for Misdemeanor DUI; Did not disclose to police that he was a FOUR TIME loser. The last DUI conviction (in 2008 may not have been apparent at the time of his arrest).
    4/08/16 – VPN blew between a .08 and .15 There is some dispute here (obviously).
    4/08/17 – VPN is released on his own recognizance.
    THERE ARE REPORTS THAT VERN AND OR DONNA CALLED ANAHIEM MAYOR TOM TAIT AND COUNCILMEMBER JOSE MORENO TO RUN ‘INTERFERENCE” AT THE TIME OF HIS INITIAL DETENTION. THIS IS UNCONFIRMED AND SHOULD BE CONSIDERED AN UNSUBSTANTIATED RUMOR.
    Regardless, Vern was not arraigned until almost a YEAR later:
    3/03/17 – VPN is arraigned and recharged; this time as a FELONY; Presumably because his past caught up with him.
    3/03/17 – VPN is remanded to custody. Bail is set at $50,000.
    3/6/17 – VPN is bonded out; See Stephen Mehr Bail Bonds – Anaheim, CA It’s unknown who put up the 10% for bail. (Tait? Vern senior? Maybe Club Zapotes had a huarche sale???).
    Over the next several months VPN, goes through many pre-trial hearings, DUI eligibility hearings and other ploys to remain free.
    6/14/17 – Vern is evaluated for the MULTIPLE OFFENDER DUI PROGRAM

    I suspect this explains VPN’s absence over the past year or so, the cryptic messages on social media, by both VPN and his wife.
    IT HAS BEEN REPORTED THAT VPN HAS BEEN SEEN DRINKING/DRUNK ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS IN THE PAST SIX MONTHS. CERTAINLY, IN THE PAST YEAR.

    RUMORS: Given Vern’s association with the Orange Juice Blog, and it’s “my way or the highway” attitude it’s natural detractors would be coming out of the woodwork and rumors, lies and stories spread. While VPN’s desire for privacy is understandable, given his wife and friends activities over the past five years, it’s quite laughable.

    Among the rumors, I have heard:
    • Tom Tait Ran interference for VPN.
    • Tom Tait REFUSED to help VPN.
    • Chief Raul Quezada shook Vern down for political support
    • Donna REFUSED to come clean about the arrest despite VPN’s Plea’s
    • Donna DESPISES Greg Diamond and his role.
    • Donna was present and possessed narcotics.
    • VPN was assured protection in prison by the Reveles Brothers (AVLS)
    • VPN’s Political enemies called OCDA’s and encouraged his FELONY
    • Tom Tait, Jose Moreno, Loretta Sanchez, Sharron Quirk Silva PERSONALLY wrote letters to the judge supporting VPN into the DUI DIVERSION PROGRAM.
    • Donna is trying to sell the OJB, Greg Diamond cannot afford it.
    • VPN is in the care of his parents in HB, HARD CORE TRUMP REPUBLICANS.
    • Brian Chachua told Vern to FUCK OFF. He hates Drunk Drivers.
    There are more social media accusations regarding VPN, Donna and Greg’s sex life, drug use and incredible secrets.
    All things being equal, it sounds like Vern is in a special program for repeat drunk drivers, is trying hard and doing well. What is not clear, is Donna’s role and the “cover-up”. More importantly Tom Tait’s role/knowledge and less important, but most embarrassing is the HYPOCRITICAL nature of the supposed “Titan of Transparency” Greg Diamond.

        I have never met Vern, I have watched him and his wife make fools of themselves at Anaheim Council meetings. I have never known him to be a part of the DPOC (which I am merely a registered member). My beef has long been with his colleauge “Crazy Greg” Diamond, somehow it spilled over to Vern and his new family (Diamond has that effect on things…..poisoning the well).

        I wish this guy well. He sounds deeply troubled. I do however, in the spirit of Greg Diamonds activism believe it is responsible to confront Mayor Tait, Councilmember Moreno “WHAT DID YOU KNOW ABOUT THIS, WHEN DID YOU KNOW IT” and “WERE YOU AWARE THAT VERN SUFFERED FROM THESE TROUBLES”. Simply put it speaks to judgement and political cronyism.

        Take a second look at the forwarded EMAIL I posted, there are a few strange nuggets that don’t add up that Mrs. Nelson alludes too.

        • For starters- my name is “Chris Epting” – secondly, I posted a few basic question about the arrest and the cover up – for the record, Vern Nelson, drunk or sober, has slandered, smeared and libeled me for years. I think he is a spineless lowlife that has more than earned his way back in jail – do I wish him harm? No way – in fact I hope he finds his way. But that does not excuse his disgraceful behavior that has gone on for years. He has attacked many people in HB with outrageous, baseless lies and smug gossip. The sooner people make him act like a grown up and be accountable for his behavior, the better. Maybe the recent acts will help him- but the last year he has has been at his worst. Many have considered suing him, but they realize, there is nothing to sue for – he has earned noting . Until Vern apologizes to every one he has smeared over the years, I will hold my sympathy in reserve. As for Greg, in my opinion, I think anybody that has been following along gets a sense of his lack of scruples, character and ethics. It sure seems that way by the things people write about him.

        • Lastly- this person Donna (whom I’ve never met) calls me a “stalker”- for posting a few questions wondering why she covered up Vern’s fifth DUI arrest during her campaign. “Stalker” has a very specific legal definition – I wonder if she would be ready to defend that in court?

They are pointed, specific and not “gross” at all- she either cannot read, has little comprehension of the language- or oh yeah- is simply a liar. I hope the DA has a chance to review her post – it almost certainly seems relevant to the felony case against Vern.

              “Vern has never been to rehab. He never thought his drinking was a problem.”

              “Did anyone of you ever see him drunk during this time? I would be surprised if you didn’t.” (This while knowing he is a felon with four previous DUIs under his belt)

              “But that judge seems to be very lenient” (referring to the presiding judge in his case)

              Many people read Donna’s short-lived post. In my view it really hurt her husband.

What else would make them go “scorched earth” in the face of valid questions about why Vern’s 5th count’em 5th DUI was not announced during his wife’s council run last year. Greg needs to step up and explain some of these actions. Can’t have it both ways. As Vern’s accomplice on that blog, he has aided and abetted many attacks against people. What is Greg hiding? Why did all of those posts disappear? OC Dems, are you keeping eye on this scoundrel and his 5DUI partner in crime?
