International Union of Operating Engineers Local 12 is Latest Labor Group to Back Harley Rouda for Congress
NEWPORT BEACH, CA — Continuing to demonstrate his wide-spread support from working people, today Democratic businessman Harley Rouda was endorsed by the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 12 in his bid for Congressional District 48. In a released statement announcing their support for Rouda, IUOE Local 12 Political Director Matt Gaines stated: “We can count on Harley Rouda to stand in solidarity with working families. Harley’s record of job creation as a businessman will enable him to build coalitions with labor and business leaders. In Congress, he’ll promote project labor agreements, affordable healthcare, livable wages, and will fight against the anti-worker agenda of this Republican Congress. We’re pleased to endorse him.” This comes on the heels of Monday, when Harley Rouda’s campaign announced that Rouda had raised more than all 5 other Democrats running for CA-48 combined. I.U.O.E. Local 12 joins several large unions representing working men and women in endorsing Harley Rouda. Previously, Rouda earned the support of:
- International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 441
- International Union of Painters and Allied Trades District Council 36
- United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices of the Plumbing and Pipe Fitting Industry (UA) Local 582
Today’s announcement follows several campaign updates, all of which illustrate Rouda’s thriving momentum, including: Rouda’s hard-hitting digital video ad , titled “2 Plans,” where he slams incumbent Dana Rohrabacher for backing Trumpcare, also known as the House GOP’s American Health Care Act (AHCA).
Harley Rouda is running to bring much needed common sense solutions, fiscal responsibility, and pragmatic progressivism to the 48th district and our country. Harley has assembled a diverse coalition of support, including 500+ grassroots volunteers, 50+ precinct captains, working families, community activists and more. Active in numerous charities and civic organizations over the years, he’s been involved in fighting homelessness and domestic violence; active with Human Rights Watch; supporting education for the disadvantaged as well as supporting access to higher education; saving military jobs; and working with civic organizations to drive economic development.
