Progressive Members of Congress Endorse Eric C. Bauman for CDP Chair; Bauman Will Address DPOC Tonight

This post consists of Congressional endorsement announcements for Eric Bauman for California Democratic Party Chair and a note from him about his appearance before the DPOC tonight:

….

Building on the widespread support Eric C. Bauman has received for his campaign for Chair of the California Democratic Party, today, we announce the backing of an extraordinary group of outstanding progressive Members of Congress across the Golden State, including:

  • Rep. Pete Aguilar (San Bernardino)
  • Rep. Karen Bass (Los Angeles)
  • Rep. John Garamendi (Walnut Grove)
  • Rep. Jared Huffman (San Rafael)
  • Rep. Adam Schiff (Pasadena)
  • Rep. Mark Takano (Riverside)
  • Rep. Norma Torres (Pomona)

In announcing his backing of Bauman for CDP Chair, Rep. Garamendi remarked:

“I have known Eric Bauman since the late 1980’s and I am proud to endorse him to be the next Chair of the California Democratic Party. Eric and I worked together on my universal healthcare legislation when I became California’s first elected Insurance Commissioner – the first such bill to pass both houses of our Legislature, though it was regrettably vetoed by Pete Wilson; we worked together to elect Bill Clinton in 1992; later, he was my Deputy Insurance Commissioner, where he oversaw all of our community relations programs and those that focused on underserved communities and helping low-income Californians. He was a key part of my team when I ran for Lt. Governor, subsequently serving as my So Cal Director and helping lead my statewide higher education listening tour. He was also a lead player in my successful run for Congress. “I know Eric Bauman well. He is a talented, aggressive, inclusive and principled leader, who has always focused his energies on those with the greatest needs – from low income and immigrant folks in the inner city, to those struggling for basic access to broadband and cell service in the rural areas of our great state, and I know he has a heart of gold and truly cares about all of us. I hope you will join Patti and me in standing with Eric Bauman to be the next Chair of the California Democratic Party.”

Here’s the note from Bauman on his appearance before the DPOC tonight:

I wanted to reach out and let you know that I will be in Orange County Monday, March 27, at the Democratic Party of Orange County’s monthly meeting, to discuss my candidacy for Chair of the California Democratic Party. It will be held at the UA Plumbers & Steamfitters Local 582 (1916 W. Chapman Ave., Orange, CA 92868), from 6:30 PM – 7:15 PM, immediately prior to the Central Committee’s monthly meeting.

There will be an opportunity to ask me questions regarding my vision for the Party and how we can continue the progressive agenda in our state and be a beacon of hope for the rest of the nation.

The race for Chair of the California Democratic Party is of incredible importance and will decide who will lead the most successful state Democratic Party forward and continue the great work we have all done together. I believe this opportunity will be a chance for you to hear my vision for the Party and how we can continue our progressive agenda in our golden state. It would be great to see you there.

I hope that you will join us and that we have a chance to talk while I am there.

  1. Political hacks backslapping each other. Bauman is a lobbyist moonlighting as a party boss. His county just held an election and only 11% voted.

    Establishment to the extreme.

  2. Greg is all but prostrate in the minds of party members. He’s become the kid who yells “there’s bacteria in the milk” at Jr. High assembly.

He’s a joke, sadly he dragged some once well thought of progressives down with him.
