Mimi Holds a Stealth Town Hall at OCBC

Senator Mimi Walters

For weeks, constituents have descended upon Rep. Mimi Walters (R-45) offer in Irvine demanding a Town Hall meeting to share feedback on her positions under President Trump.  Staffers were either lying or clueless or both saying no Town Hall was scheduled.

But there was.

Today.

At the Orange County Business Council.

Here’s a link to the video.

OCBC’s Twitter feed had news of a Mimi Walters “Town Hall.”  It was not publicized broadly, and it was certainly a friendly audience.  OCBC Executive Director Lucy Dunn said, on social media, that Rep. Walters handled many tough issues and tough questions.

Indivisible OC’s chapter that has been chasing Mimi for a Town Hall was caught flat-footed and unaware.

OC Register political reporter Martin Wisckol was also unaware of the “Town Hall” writing in the Indivisible Facebook group page this:

Martin Wisckol Hmm… I’m on OCBC’s mailing list, get notice of their events and don’t recall getting anything on this. And I’m a reporter for the OC Register, so it would seem to be pretty under the radar.

It’s time to call Mimi’s OC office (she’s likely here for the weekend) and ask WTF is going on?  When will she meet with residents.

  1. So misleading that Rep. Walters is saying this was a town hall. It is an injustice to her constituents. Her constituents demand a town hall made available to EVERYONE in her district.

  2. How can residents have confidence in their “representatives ” when they play games like this?

  3. She’s as dishonest as Trump; no wonder they have such a love affair going! It is not a town hall if it is held in private with a select audience.

  4. It is inappropriate for anyone to bill this as a town hall. Looks like Rep Walters is working on damage control from the negative press she’s been getting. But there’s no way anyone will be fooled into thinking this was a town hall. She needs to meet with her constituents, not special interest groups.

  5. The New York Post reported the activist group led by former President Obama called Organizing for Action, or OFA, had distributed a training manual for leftists agitators on how to disrupt town hall meetings held by GOP members of Congress in their home districts.

  6. OCBC, barf. You can’t get any more insider than that. They support only the most corrupt Rep & Dem politicians, and the most wasteful and corrupt “public-private partnerships.” What a joke to call that a town hall.

    • I disagree with your assessment. I think Lucy does a nice job behind the scenes bringing companies and jobs to OC. This was not a town hall, but let’s not paint everything the OCBC does with the same brush because you don’t understand it.

        • Well, I still think the Angels are here for a short time until they find a new site likely in Carson where the Raiders/Chargers were going to play. Laugh all you want, you are clueless about how economic development works
