Former Westminster council member Diana Carey announced a significant endorsement in her quest to be the next chair for the Democratic Party of Orange County. Congress Alan Lowenthal has endorsed her campaign for chair.
She sent the message below:
After announcing my candidacy for Chair of the Democratic Party of Orange County, I’ve been very encouraged by the positive response our campaign has received.
That’s why I’m very excited to announce the endorsement of Congressman Alan Lowenthal for my campaign for chair of the Democratic Party of Orange County.
Congressman Lowenthal has served portions of West Orange and Central County in Congress since 2012. He has been an outspoken leader and courageous progressive on issues such as LGBT Equality, Immigrant Rights, Healthcare, and Environmental Protection.
As a Westminster City Councilmember, I had the opportunity to serve with Congressman Lowenthal on local and regional issues. I’m proud to consider him a mentor and a friend and have always respected his leadership, vision and values. I’m humbled to have his support and endorsement.
If elected, I plan to follow Congressman Lowenthal’s example and continue our party’s strong commitment to fighting for our shared progressive values on behalf of minorities, women, workers and all local Democrats. We need to be united in order to take on a Republican Party with a dangerous national agenda.
I wish to thank Congressman Lowenthal again for his faith in me and I hope to continue to speak with all of you on how we can strengthen the Democratic Party of Orange County.
