ANAHEIM – Anaheim City Council candidate Leonard Lahtinen announced today that former Anaheim City Councilmembers Shirley McCracken and Irv Pickler have formally endorsed his campaign for the City’s newly created District 1 Council seat in West Anaheim.
“I’m grateful to have the confidence and support of both Shirley McCracken and Irv Pickler,” said Lahtinen, who has served as an elected member of the North Orange County Community College District Board for over 26 years. “As longtime leaders within our City and West Anaheim, they have both significantly contributed to our community. I look forward to working with them both after the election to assist me in my effort to make sure West Anaheim gets its fair share of city resources.”
Lahtinen, a 54-year resident of West Anaheim, is a retired high school teacher from the Anaheim Union High School District. Long active in the West Anaheim community, he presently serves as Vice Chair of the West Anaheim Neighborhood Council. He has also served as President of the Anaheim Secondary Teachers Association, as Vice Chair of the Magnolia School District Bond Oversight Committee, a Team Manager within the West Anaheim Little League, a member of the Board of Directors of the Anaheim Boys and Girls Club, a member of the Board of Trustees for the Anaheim Museum, and as Foreman Pro Tem for the Orange County Grand Jury.
Hi Leonard,
I am a West Anaheim home owner plagued by the issues related to homelessness (sanitation, drug use, theft, blight, violence). What plans do you have to help fix this issue in our parks and the washes? I am a long time democrat and most of the endorsed candidates are republicans. Please tell me what differentiates you as I really WANT to vote blue, but I have no information about your plans. Thank you –
