Fullerton: The Angeles Chapter of the Sierra Club has just announced its endorsement of Josh Newman for California State Senator from the 29th State Senate District, in the 2016 election.

“We are very pleased to announce today that the Sierra Club officially endorses Josh Newman for election,” said Sharon Koch, Angeles Chapter Chair. “We are confident that he will continue work to protect California families’ health, air and water, and build a clean energy economy that works for California.”

Josh Newman recognizes the importance of both protecting the environment and improving the economy in ways that will improve Californians’ lives and advance our state’s future. He understands that the time to act on climate change is now. He believes that good jobs and a clean environment are mutually attainable goals. Better economic outcomes for all will come from clean air, clean water, and sustainable communities.

“We appreciate Mr. Newman’s work to protect open lands, and his support for legislative actions that would seek to limit the impacts of climate change and fracking on current and future generations”, said Mike Bressler, member of the Sierra Club’s Orange County Political Committee. “He is an environmental champion who will fight to protect California’s clean air, clean water, our climate and natural treasures.”

Along with the endorsement, the Sierra Club will lend its volunteer strength to Mr. Newman’s campaign.

“We pledge to do all we can to help ensure Josh Newman is elected,” said Mike Bressler. “Scores of Sierra Club volunteers will contact voters on Josh Newman’s behalf and we will speak to the public as often as possible about his environmental record. We look forward to a victory for Josh Newman on election night and to Josh Newman fighting for the environment as a California State Senator.”
