The Orange County Young Democrats have endorsed Loretta Sanchez for US Senate, Joe Dunn for Congress in CD-46 and Sukhee Kang for State Senate in races where there’s a contested Democrat running.

Here’s a collection of commentary from the candidates on the endorsement:

“I am overjoyed that the young people of our County endorsed Congresswoman Sanchez to replace Barbara Boxer for Senate. She has been my representative to Washington for the vast majority of my life, and in that time, she has provided our district with exemplary service,” said OCYD President, Jesse Ben-Ron. “I have the utmost confidence that she will serve the state as well as she served the district I lived in,” he continued. “OCYD thanks her for her two decades of service to this community, and as a former constituent, so do I.”

“I am incredibly humbled and proud that the Orange County Young Democrats have chosen to put their faith in me to be their next U.S. Senator,” stated Congresswoman Loretta Sanchez. “I have worked with these ambitious and intelligent young men and women for years, and I have no doubt that they have a bright future as our future local and national leaders.”

“The Orange County Young Democrats are pleased to endorse Sukhee Kang for state Senate with 72 percent of our votes,” said Jesse Ben-Ron, president of the organization. “Sukhee’s candidacy has energized a lot of Democrats in this historically red seat, because he’s the only Democrat with the experience, track record of winning elections and base of support necessary to flip the seat. The Orange County Young Democrats look forward to providing lots of support, enthusiasm and manpower to fuel Sukhee’s campaign this year.”

“I am very appreciative for the endorsement and support of the Orange County Young Democrats, especially with such a large margin of members voting to endorse me,” Kang said. “This endorsement is another sign that we will have across-the-board Democratic Party support in my Senate race, and I look forward to working with the Young Democrats to help win not only this seat, but other races in Orange County this year.”

“Joe Dunn has been a champion on fighting the establishment to help young people get ahead,” said Jesse Ben Ron, chair of the Orange County Young Democrats. “As a state senator, he led efforts to make college credits more transferable and to prevent credit card vendors from preying on students. Joe’s the most qualified candidate to push through the gridlock in Congress to help reduce student loan debt.”
In addition to the three candidates above, OCYD also backed Sharon Quirk-Silva and Tom Daly for Assembly, and Linda Sanchez for Congress.
