Hot off the press from the Loretta Sanchez for US Senate campaign:
Today, the California Association of Letter Carriers announced their support and endorsement of Loretta Sanchez in her bid to replace retiring U.S Senator Barbara Boxer, citing Loretta’s support and advocacy of their issues during her two decades of service in the United States House of Representatives.
“Loretta grew up in a union household, one which cares not only about their own family, but for the community they lived in,” said California State Association of Letter Carriers president John Beaumont. “Loretta has proven herself to be a strong Democrat throughout her nearly 20 years in Congress, pushing policies focused on keeping our country strong, protecting individual rights, creating jobs, and protecting trade. She has continually supported and introduced legislation that helped veterans, seniors, and unemployed workers and their families,” he added. “Loretta was and will continue to be at the forefront turning back any attacks the NALC and Postal Service has had to endure from misleading legislation aimed to dismantle our network and/or reduce our service to the American Public.”
The 38,000 member California organization is a subset of the NACL – National Association of Letter Carriers, and has a long history of being the sole force for defending the rights of letter carriers and ensuring their protection and fair treatment. “I am honored to have the endorsement of the California State Association of Letter Carriers with whom I have worked closely over the past 19 years and who’s workers comprise a vital element of our economy,” said Congresswoman Loretta Sanchez. “As Senator, I will fight for fair wages and better working conditions for not only letter carriers, but for all hard working Americans. I will also fight any legislative attempts at privatizing our Postal Service, a cherished public service which has existed – under the tenure of legendary figures such as Benjamin Franklin – for as long as the United States itself.”
