For several weeks the Orange County Employees Association has been running an advertising campaign in the Orange County Register titled OC Crystal Ball. On the Monday before each Board of Supervisors meeting the campaign features agenda items that the Board will consider and predicts, based upon campaign contributions by lobbyists, how the vote will go. So far the campaign has a 100 percent accuracy rate.
According to this weeks ad, Supervisor Nguyen, through the county’s taxpayer-funded attorney, demanded that OCEA stop using her photo in their Crystal Ball ads. In order to comply with her demand, they have revised the images in their campaign to hide Nguyen’s image in shadow, and sketch out the images of all Supervisors shown inside their crystal ball.

Supervisor Nguyen should have been careful of what she asked for. This week’s ad asks:
Why doesn’t Supervisor Nguyen want you to see her photo? Why is Janet Nguyen the only County Supervisor who refuses to allow her photo to be used? Through the County’s taxpayer-funded attorney, she demanded her photo be removed. Call her and ask her why. It pays to follow the money.
What’s the matter Janet? Are you trying to hide from all the negative publicity about your votes and their relationship to campaign contributions?
You can follow the predictions of the OC Crystal Ball here. If you want to call Supervisor Nguyen her office phone number is (714) 834-3110.
We (almost all) can agree that both of the candidates for the 34th SD are ethically challenged, Pretty much an indictment of the same money that infuses politics, the system of campaign finance, as well as lack of restrictions on lobbyists.
The question I have is why is Mr. C. (Dan) writing under a pseudonym? Chris cannot write this as he is on the OCEA Retirement Board, and is banned from doing so. Kind of a rich irony for Dan to be writing under a pseudonym while constantly complaining of the practice.
Anton,
Stories posted under the byline of TheLiberalOC are attributable to the publication and not an individual author. From time to time we have contributors who do not wish to be identified by name. The TheLiberalOC byline is used in that situation as well. It is therefore unreasonable for you to assign authorship to Dan Chmielewski.
