Sanchez’s Congressional Opponent “A Person of Interest” in Stealing Campaign Signs in Lake Forest

Adam Nick

The OC Register is reporting that Adam Nick, a Lake Forest city council member who is challenging Congresswoman Loretta Sanchez in CD-46 next month, is a “person of interest” in a sign stealing incident in Lake Forest.

According to the paper, Nick was caught will several campaign signs belonging to lake Forest council candidate Scott Voigts at 2AM last Thursday.  Nick claims he was moving the signs to a better location, while Voigts says no permission was giving to do so.  And even if permission was granted, why 2AM?

From the Register:

A couple of nights ago, a deputy spotted a black Ford sedan in a no-parking zone near Bake Parkway and Trabuco Road and saw a man with campaign signs climb into the passenger seat. The driver was Lake Forest Mayor Pro Tem Adam Nick, according to the Sheriff’s Department, and in the car were 10 campaign signs belonging to Scott Voigts, a fellow councilman seeking re-election.

Although he hasn’t been identified as a suspect, police say they consider Nick a person of interest in a string of campaign sign thefts that began Sept. 25, sheriff’s Lt. Jeff Hallock said.

Calling the incident, at 2 a.m. Thursday, a misunderstanding, Nick said Friday he had taken Voigts’ signs to move them to a better location, though he had not asked his permission to do so. “They’re making something out of nothing,” Nick said.

But Voigts, who says he is missing 140 signs, said he believes Nick meant to harm his campaign efforts. “I’m saddened and hurt that a fellow council member would be caught at that time in the morning with my campaign signs without my permission,” Voigts said. “He’s pledged to change the makeup of the council, and I take that as including me.”

So this is the caliber of candidate the OC GOP has left to take on Sanchez?  Wow.

    1. Sign theft is pretty pathetic but it’s hardly the most criminal thing I’ve seen, or at least suspected, among OC’s political elites.

    2. The fool was caught red handed with ten signs at 2am. Given the number of signs reported missing (100+), this appears systematic and part of a premeditated scheme. On second glance, I started to feel it was pretty serious theft.

    3. I supported the other guy, Republican primary candidate Carlos Vazquez.

Today’s paper also had a great article written by Martin Wisckol.

  2. Never, Knew that Loretta now has Lake Forest. I thought she was still Santa Ana, Anaheim and so forth. So, it is harder for her to win.

    • Um… I think this Nick clown doesn’t even live in Loretta’s district. You don’t have to when you’re running for Congress. But he’s apparently the best the GOP could come up with. it is all pretty comical.

  3. Humm, caught in the commission of a crime with stolen property in his possession. Wonder why Adam Nick wasn’t arrested by the Deputy? If I were Scott Voigt, I would be asking that question to Sheriff Hutchins?
