Tea Bagger/Tea Party Republican Lynn Schott thinks the third time is a charm; she’s launched her third bid for Irvine City Council with a platform that calls for some interesting projects — namely a convention center in Irvine at the great Park no less– with no plans on how it will be financed, but she’s deliberately lying to voters with a misleading line that she’s been endorsed by the Orange County Register.
The Register endorsed Schott in 2012, but right up front on her website, the first quote is from the Register’s 2012 endorsement. The Register hasn’t endorsed anyone in Irvine for 2014 yet (spoiler alert, ony Republicans will get it). It’s a completely dishonest thing for a candidate to say, especially one who touts her family’s ties to scouting organizations. Based on her big spending ideas for a convention center at the Great Park along with hotels and restaurants to “which typically costs $1 billion to construct and much better suited for larger cities may not meet with favor from the paper’s editors in 2014. Schott hasn’t identified where private or public investment might come for the construction of a convention center or but wants the Great Park to be a new downtown. But it’s clear, she hasn’t a clue as to the hundreds of millions to billions this idea might cost.
From her page on “Great Park issues”: “Create a real ‘downtown’ Irvine to attract young talent to the area; Build a convention center with hotels to bring in revenue.” We need more hotels in Irvine, really? There are several by the airport, on Main Street, on Von Karmon, and some new ones just sprang up in the Irvine Spectrum, but she wants to build more hotels at the Great Park. Is there public money involved with building the convention center. Perhaps she can place it next to Mayor Choi’s library at the Great Park, which was introduced 18 months ago and has precious little to show for it. And is there going to be some sort of light rail or shuttle bus service? .
Oddly enough, the entire Republican majority has endorsed Schott perhaps unaware of her convention center idea. But the endorsements from Mayor Choi, Mayor Pro Tem Jeff Lalloway and Councilmember Shea made me laugh, specially Shea’s. She writes: “Lynn Schott is my top choice for the Irvine City Council.” Nice dig at Lalloway who is up for re-election to the Council and Choi who is running for Mayor.
Schott runs the Founder’s Academy, a service for home school teachers that provides conservative indoctrination. Schott openly supports conversative values and promotes a Judeo-Christian worldview, so to hell with the vast number of Irvine voters who are Muslim, Buddist or agnostic. I’m happy to let Schott know that conservatives don’t have a monopoly on freedom, patriotism or liberty; Liberals practice these things too.
Schott’s platform reminds me on a candidate for student body president: longer lunch hours, less homework. She wants to do a lot without raising taxes. I think more substance and more honestly are required of this candidate, especially when it comes to the Register endorsement she touts. In case she forgot, the Scout’s have a credo on honesty and she’s failed in this respect already:
H is for HONOR, exhibiting a strong moral character.
O is for ONE. The decision made by one person can make a difference in the lives of many.
N is for NEVER telling a lie. Honesty is always the best policy.
E is for ENFORCEMENT, as in the law enforcement officers who help to keep us safe us safe.
S is for SCOUTS—Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, Varsity Scouts, and Venturers—all doing the right thing each and every time
T is for TRUSTWORTHY, the first point of the Scout Law and what every Scout should strive to be
Y is for YOU, the person who can make a difference by practicing honesty.

So give Lynn a Schott to be truthful about her Register endorsement and her convention center plans. Unless she thinks Irvine voters are dumb.
Ms. Schott has updated her website….”In 2012, the Orange County Register endorsed Lynn for Irvine city council noting….”
Well, most of the Tea Party have a John Bircher and Paleo-conservative connection but she has strange ideas for a Tea Party person to support a convention center. Larry Agran helped the dummies get back in power with his scandal. the good news is about 20,000 white evangelicals leave Oc for Texas or another cheaper red state housing. Also, folks from back east come and live in Irvine along with the Asians and others. Never fear in 2025 most Tea Party folk in California will live in Aging and low population Modoc. Modoc broke the most for Romney.

Grandfather of the Tea Party. They wanted to repeal the state income tax but that was not popular while cutting the property tax years later was more popular.
How’d you like that Mike Ellzey deposition Dan?
Mike comes off as an ineffectual CEO more worried about his paycheck than being a leader. Enjoyed your video collage on OJ; why are you so out of breath on your walks? Sounds like a dirty phone call
Dan, still ladling out your B/S propaganda I see, this time aimed at Lynn Schott. Guess Campaign 2014 has come to town early this time.
When it comes to honesty, integrity and ethics, Lynn Schott has more than Larry Agran, Beth Krom, Sukhee Kang and yourself all rolled into one. Coming off you long time record of spinning the facts for the Agranistas and with the initial exposures of the Park Audit, you actually have a hell of a lot of nerve pointing the finger at anyone.
On the Tea Party affiliation, I don’t know if Lynn is or is not a member, but if she is, all the more power to her. All the Tea Party people I have ever met are conservative patriotic citizens who care about their country. Sorry, not a single radical of the type you like to profile them all as being. Frankly, I would choose to associate with them any day, rather than you liberal lefties.
I have heard a lot of ideas thrown on the table for considration in trying to establish a long term financial resourse for building and maintaining the Great Park. This is because the Agranistas were so busy giving money to their BFF’S they never got around to such a plan. Rumors have been floating about a Convention Center, a Professional Baseball Stadium (Angels), relocating the Orange County Fairgrounds, a Professional Ice Hocky Practice Center and even building a stadium for the San Diego Charger Football Team. I remind you Dan, these are just ideas being floated for review and nothing concrete has ever been forthcoming. I am pleased to see that Lynn and the other Council Conservatives are thinking outside the box on long term financing, because your Agranista Team never did.
In the end Dan, you can spin the facts, throw out half-truths and rumors but in November Larry Agran and Beth Krom are going down to defeat. While we will have to tolerate the whining of Krom for another two years, the conservatives will have a 4-1 majority on the Council. Things are changing in Irvine and for the better, I might add. Get used to it Dan.
Beth Krom is running? I’ve already demonstrated Lynn Schott’s lack of honesty, integrity and ethics. Let me know when you get to any criminal wrongdoing you continue to allege and when none is found Pat, I’ll demand you apologize for years of making such claims.
Defensive much, Ltpar? “Spin” is precisely why I canceled my subscription to the “Orange County Register” and started reading OC Liberal for some fresh insight and perspective. Consider emailing your post to the Register’s “Letters to the Editor.” It will be in good company with the usual retinue of mad-as-hell, foaming-at-the-mouth rants.
