OC Supervisors Select Grimes as Auditor-Controller

oclogo.jpgAfter interviewing seven finalists for the position of County Auditor-Controller, vacated last year by David Sundstrom, the Orange County Board of Supervisors unanimously voted to appoint Jan Grimes as County Auditor-Controller. Grimes will complete the remainder of Sundstrom’s term, through 2014. Grimes has been filling in as the Interim Auditor-Controller since Sundstrom’s resignation. Some supervisors had initially voiced concern that Grimes had indicated she did not intent to seek election to the post in 2014. She reiterated that point during her interview.

“I’ve never aspired to elective office,” Grimes told supervisors during her interview. “It would not be my intention to run for office. I’m hoping that in that time good candidates would come forward.”

The possibility that Grimes will not seek the election in 2014 leaves the door open for Supervisor John Moorlach to seek that position should his consideration of a run for Governor in 2014 not be feasible. Moorlach is termed out in his position of Supervisor representing the 2nd District..

  1. Supervisor Moorlach has never missed an opportunity to publicly bash County employees as lazy, incompetent and a complete waste of taxpayer dollars, but he sure loves being an employee of this “corrupt” County government. He’s always bragging how he could make so much more money in the private sector. John, PLEASE go make your fortune in the private sector and take your ethically challenged staff with you.

  2. Great comment.

Is Moorlach not an employee of the County of Orange? Or is he above that since he was elected?

This is akin to those conservatives who bash public employees as all being lazy, incompetent, or corrupt. Until you remind them the military personnel fighting for their freedom are all public employees. Then the backstroking is of Olympic caliber and an exception is made.
