The Tea Party is Over: A Tale of Allen and Alan in Florida

In 2010, The Tea Party was the big winner in the mid-term elections forcing sometimes reasonable Republicans to embrace the crazy far right fringe and insisting taxes were too high in spite of evidence from the Congressional Budget Office that Americans actually pay a lower percentage of taxes as part of their income today than they did in the 1950s.  In fact, one two percent of the Tea Party “Patriots” were aware that President Obama cut their federal taxes in 2009, which is pitiful for an organization founded on the concept of taxes.

Im 2010, Florida voters kicked out Democrat Alan Grayson, an outspoken critic of the Bush administration, and elected a Tea Party Republican in his place.  Florida voters also elected Allen West, a crazy conservative who once suggested most of the Democrats in Congress were either Communists or Socialists.

In 2012, Grayson was re-elected and West is out the door.  You can read more details here, but West is going to have to be dragged away kicking and screaming.  Like Karl Rove’s call on Ohio, West is in denial on his loss and has lost some legal challenges associated with a recount.  Read about it here.

Even the Mad Hatter is telling the GOP that the tea Party is over.
