Conservative pundit Ann Coulter must have a new book out because of the bombs she’s dropping on Twitter and on Talk Show. Coulter tweeted a message that she thought it was OK for GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney to “be kind and gentle to the retard.” So Coulter calls the President of the United States a Retard? I always thought he was a Kenyan Muslim Socialist who hated America. But IOKIYAR (It’s OK if you’re a Republican).
When Obama’s former Chief of Staff Rahm Emmanuel, the current mayor of Chicago, used the term in 2010, former GOP VP candidate and Tea Party darling Sarah Palin went nuts, calling the comments (rightfully so) insensitive and offensive. Palin called for Emmanuel to step down. And Palin has a right to do this as a parent of a child who is developmentally disabled.
But since Coulter’s eruption, not a peep from Palin who also gave Rush Limbaugh a free passto use the term in 2010. “But the former governor went to great and sometimes awkward lengths to insist that when conservative talk show host Rush Limbaugh used the same exact term to describe the same exact group, it was simply in the role of political humorist.
“They are kooks, so I agree with Rush Limbaugh,” she said, when read a quote of Limbaugh calling liberal groups “retards.” “Rush Limbaugh was using satire … . I didn’t hear Rush Limbaugh calling a group of people whom he did not agree with ‘f-ing retards,’ and we did know that Rahm Emanuel, as has been reported, did say that. There is a big difference there.”
So they you have it. When Democrats use the word, fire them. When Republicans use it, it’s satire.
Hopefully liberals and conservatives can abandon this word as an insult and stick with the non-bigoted but spirited term “moron” instead.

Dan, well I will say one thing for you, you did publich a nice photo of Ann Coulter. I am not much of a follower of the media pundits, as most of them are entertainers and not serious commentators.
I also take exception to the term “retard” used in comparison to Barack Obama. My exception is different than yours however. Comparing Obama to a retard was an insult to all legitimate mentally challenged people out there?
