Candidates for Santa Ana Mayor and the City Council assembled at the Rancho Santiago Board conference room for a forum tonight that began at 7PM; we were there long enough to take some photos but had to leave.
Republican Mayoral candidate George Collins is recording the event and will post it on the Web later tonight.
The room was still pretty empty with 10 minutes to spare and filled up quickly. Mayor Pulido was nowhere to be seen but sources tell us and arrived just before 8PM as the city council candidates portion of the night was wrapping up. Council candidate Steve Rocco appeared to be the only no-show of the night.
For those who attended, the comments are open to you. Who did well? Who didn’t? And why?
Last time I get to one of these 45 minutes early….
I was suprised, the ones I thought might not do well, did just fine.
No coverage from the leading pocho Spanish blogger or his only friend on the planning commission. WTF?
I was completely underwhelmed by the performance of nearly all the canidates.
Perhaps they were nervous, but nobody offered any details on anything, really disapointing.
There were some kids outside passing out Benavides “cards” or something. he’s going to need a lot more teenagers if he wants to play at this level.
Who was the guy taking video?
From what I heard Brett Franklin did well, Karina Onofre and Vince Sarmiento did fine. Charles Hart did not do well, Roman Reyna wasn’t great. I’m told Eric Adlerete came off the worst and appeared to be arrogant to those in the crowd. I’ll watch George Collins video and ascertain for myself.
Biased opinions…Roman was the best, Vince & Karina did well. Brett kept repeating how it was when he was in council, back in the day. The rest did just ok.. I did not see the arrogance in Eric those claim they saw. Over all nothing worth writing about.
As for Mayor: George was arrogant, the Mayor in denial, the others just sad….DAVID was the only candidate that did well…
Over all, it was boring, it was more like a forum, then a debate…I would’ve had a better time going to a Tupperware party.
BTW: there was a good turn-out for this. Hopefully next time it will be a real debate!
