CHARLOTTE, NC — DNC2012 organizers have decided to implement their weather contingency plan, moving the Thursday night ceremonies from the Bank of America Stadium to the Time Warner Arena. Severe thunderstorms are predicted for the rest of the week and the decision hinged on safety concerns.

DNC officials said in a morning briefing that they had 65,000 credentialed individuals for Thursday night, and 19,000 on a waiting list. most of those were “Community Credentials” issued to members of the public. The Time Warner Arena can accommodate only 15,000 with the staging. “We are highly disappointed that we are unable to accommodate all of the credentialed community members,” said Melanie Roussell, DNC National Press Secretary. “President Obama will be speaking on a conference call with credentialed community members on Thursday.”

Other than the location change, the schedule for Thursday night will remain the same. President Bill Clinton will be nominating both President Obama and Vice President Biden after his remarks in the 7 pm (PST) hour. Then the DNC Secretary will call the roll of delegations from each state in alphabetical order. For us on the east coast it’s going to be a late night.
