The Road To Charlotte

I’ll be travelling to Charlotte, NC to cover the Democratic National Convention as credentialed press. While there I’ll be following a few delegates from Orange County’s delegation. One of those delegates, Dot De Leon, is a proud, Latina, take names and kick butts democrat, from the 39th Congressional District. Dot recently ran for a position on the Democratic National Committee at the California Democratic Party’s Summer Executive Board meeting. While she was unsuccessful in that endeavor, she is not deterred in the least in her commitment to activism and the values and positions of the Democratic Party.

Dot has already covered her expenses to the convention, but she has decided to take on the cause of making sure that a few students and volunteers are able to get to Charlotte as well. This weekend, she will be hosting a fundraiser at her place in Diamond Bar to support that effort.

The Road to Charlotte will be a pool party from 2pm till 7 pm on Sunday August 19th. The minimum cost to attend is $20 per adult or $10 for children under 12. There will be the pool, games, 50-50 raffles, and of course good old summer picnic food.

It sounds to me like a good cause and should be a lot of fun. I’ll be there for sure. Click here for the event flyer with all the details. If you can attend, great, if you are unable to attend, please consider sending Dot a contribution to support local convention volunteers on the Road to Charlotte. If you need more information send dot an email at dotdeleon@yahoo.com.
