The California Office of the League of United Latin American Citizens is calling for a federal inquiry into an officer involved shooting (OIS) in the City of Anaheim this past Friday, the sixth such occurrence this year.

Take Back Anaheim has called for a protest rally outside Anaheim City Hall for 4 p.m. today to demand justice and accountability in the wake of the shooting of Manuel Angel Diaz on Saturday afternoon. Diaz was unarmed when he was shot twice by police.

Suit filed to compel release of Assistant CEO Drakodaidis letter

The Voice of OC filed a lawsuit today asking the Orange County Superior Court to compel the County of Orange to release the letter received by the county from the attorney for Assistant CEO Alisa Drakodaidis. Californians Aware, the Center for Public Forum Rights, is joining Voice of OC in the suit.

Over the weekend, violence broke out in an Anaheim neighborhood after the office involved shooting death of 25-year-old Manuel Angel Diaz of Santa Ana. Anaheim Mayor Tom Tait was quick to respond: “I’m asking for a full investigation,” Tait said at a Sunday news conference. “Transparency is essential. Whatever the truth is, we will own it.”

Mauk could have dealt with Bustamante mess in 2008

Over the weekend I reviewed some of the old LiberalOC posts about the 2008 scandal where Carlos Bustamante got away with making sexist and inappropriate remarks about Sheriff appointee Sandra Hutchens in the Hall of Administration and in front of an LATimes reporter. Looking back, it appears that the dysfunction of the County Public Works Department, and CEO Tom Mauk’s oversight of management was readily apparent.
