A tipster sent us this YouTube video this morning and it appears Santa Ana Council member David Benavides will challenge Miguel Pulido this fall for Mayor. Benavides won the most votes in the 2010 election for City Council in which he ran unopposed.

Benavides has a safe seat from which to run this fall. He will have enormous challenge in raising money to topple Pulido whose power in the Mayor’s chair seems to weaken with each new election cycle. Since the city council has moved to place Mayoral term limits on the ballot for this fall with the 2012 election cycle being Pulido’s last if he were to win, it is going to be interesting to see how this race shakes out.

  1. I can not begin to express my happiness with Mr. Benavides’s decision to run. We have here a viable candidate that epitomizes the qualities I have hoped for in a Mayor. Honesty and integrity, both missung from our current leadership. Win or lose, it’s time to organize. We must not sit idly by and let this opportunity pass. Start talking to your friends and neighbors now about the vision for a better Santa Ana.

  2. The big question is whether or not Mayor Miguel Pulido will once again retain the web design services of child porn promoter and tax cheat Arturo “Art” Pedroza. Everyone should contact Travelers Insurance and inform them that a child porn promoter and tax cheat named Art Pedroza works for them.

    • I wonder why Pedroza didn’t put that he worked at Traveler’s Insurance as his primary source of income instead of “teacher” where he group teaches one day a week.
