

Trung Ta, a prominent Democrat in Little Saigon and co-founder and co-chair for the National Committee for Vietnamese Americans for Obama, will participate in a White House briefing and reception to celebrate Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders (AAPI) month on Wednesday May 9, 2012. Trung will then attend a National AAPI Leadership Meeting & Heritage Month Reception on Wednesday May 9, 2012 at DNC Headquarters. There are also other AAPI events and Gala during the month of May that Trung will participate and attend representing Vietnamese Americans from across the nation.
Trung was the top voter getter for the California Democratic Party’s CD-48 statewide Caucus which elected National Delegates for State of California. He will represent Little Saigon at the DNC Convention this September in Charlotte, NC. Trung downed nine other male candidates to be selected in the top three and the field included a State Senate Candidate and some of well known Democrats in the district. This was his first time to run for National Delegates
Trung is the Vice-Chair of VADPAC (The Vietnamese-American Democratic Political Action Committee) and serves as the co-host of the group’s public access TV show called “VADPAC Talk Show” along with Bao Nguyen.

Trung is a Principal Engineer and Software Project Manager with Raytheon Company. He has been working for Defenses and Aerospace companies such as Raytheon Company, Hughes Aircraft Company and Boeing Company for almost 30 years.
Trung is well known in Southern California Vietnamese community as an Educator, a Community Leader and a Political Leader. He has been dedicating his services in the last 30 years to preserve and promote Vietnamese traditions and languages and to build a strong and respectful Vietnamese community in Southern California. Trung was the Vice-Chairman Internal Affair of Hong Bang Vietnamese School, Founding Chairman of Vietnamese Cultural Center, Chairman of Viet Olympiad Giai Khuyen Hoc, Stage Manager for Lac Hong Vietnamese Traditional Performing Art Group, President of Binh Thuan Province Friendship Association. Currently, he is Vice-Chairman of Saint Anselm’s Cross-Cultural Community Center, and Measure C Citizens’ Oversight Committee Member of Coast Community College District.
Realizing that the best way to serve the community is to participate in politics, Trung joined the Democratic Party and was the California State and Orange County Central Committee Member. Trung is the Founding President of the Vietnamese American Democratic Club (VADC). He is also the Vice-Chairman External Affair of the Vietnamese American Democratic Political Action Committee (VADPAC). During the primary election 2008, Trung was Vietnamese American National Co-Chair for Hillary Clinton and AAPI Southern California Co-Chair for Hillary Clinton for President. He later became Member of AAPI Leadership Team for Barack Obama’s Presidential Campaign. For the election year of 2012, Trung is the Co-Founder and National Steering Committee Member of National Committee of Vietnamese Americans for Obama (NCVAO).
Trung came to the USA in 1978 as one of the Boat People and now lives in Huntington Beach, California with his wife and two sons.
