WonderCon, a terrific pop culture convention run by the people who put on ComicCon in San Diego every year, makes a rare stop in So Cal with the event at the Anaheim Convention Center this weekend. Since ComicCon sold out in a couple of hours two weeks ago, this could be your best shot. These shows are loaded with great political bumper stickers, so I’m out looking for those this weekend.
For those going, a weekend deal to announce. Stop by BareBones Studios booth D-15 and ask for Mike Purcell. Mike hails from Plano, Texas and he’ll no doubt be under the watchful eye of local law enforcement. If you see a T-shirt you like, tell Mike you’re a Liberal OC reader and ask for the “T-shirt Terrorist” special and you’ll get $5 off any shirt (one discount only regardless of the shirt you buy).

Mike’s new offering is a “League of ExtraLarge Gentlemen” shirts which is a play on the comic (and movie) “The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen.” And sizes go to 8X.
Mike, of course, was the vendor who was investigated by the Plano, Texas police on behalf of the Santa Ana Police regarding a possible “terrorist threat” against Santa Ana Planning Commissioner Sean Mill who got a size 4X shirt in the mail with a packing slip complete with a business name and address. So clearly, as terrorist threats go, this is up there with smuggling tweezers on an airplane. Keeping quiet about the prank made it all the sweeter, and Mike was a sport during the whole thing. I’ll be spending a few bucks there Friday for a new group photo at Drinking Liberally.
So if you’re headed to WonderCon this weekend, drop by and say hi to Mike.
