Michele Martinez was quick to send out a press release yesterday highlighting her fundraising prowess in the race for campaign cash in the 69th Assembly district campaign. A look into those numbers reveals an exaggerated picture.
A month and a half ago city officials in Santa Ana were crowing from the 8th floor of City hall about their fabulous ranking by Forbes as one of the most safest cities in the nation. On Friday, Forbes released another ranking which names Santa Ana. I’ve been digging through emails trying to find a press release from the city and I just can’t seem to find one.
Billionaire Donald Trump caused a flurry of speculation on Wednesday when he announced that he would be making a major announcement on Thursday, Groundhog Day. According to Trump adviser Michael Cohen, “the announcement will pertain to the presidential race.” There has been speculation that Mr. Trump will be making an endorsement.
Michele Martinez allegedly claimed the Pala Band of Mission Indians were planning to “come in big with some I.E.’s,” presumably for her. A tribal spokesman Doug Elmets tried to put distance between her campaign and the tribe. Campaign finance reports contradict his statement.
Bill O’ Reilly responded to Miss Piggy’s big diss on Fox News on his show on Monday night. “Well, we still like the Muppets, but they’d better watch it.”
It’s that time of year again where I get the distinct pleasure of reminding my LiberalOC colleague, Managing Editor Dan Chmielewski, that he is older than me. Even if only by two and a half months I am always conscious during our frequent debates, over how liberal or conservative we should be, that I should respect my elders. I rarely pay attention to that rule, except for on his birthday.
Julio Perez holds the fundraising lead in the 69th Assembly contest based on campaign finance reports submitted today. Perez reported raising 114,747.27 for the 2011 year. Santa Ana City Councilwoman Michele Martinez holds the position of runner-up having raised a surprising $100,299.00 including a $15,700 loan she made to her campaign.
