Julio Perez holds the fundraising lead in the 69th Assembly contest based on campaign finance reports submitted today. Perez reported raising $114,747.27 for the 2011 year.
Santa Ana City Councilwoman Michele Martinez holds the position of runner-up having raised a surprising $100,299.00including a $15,700 loan she made to her campaign.
In a distant third, County Clerk-Recorder Tom Daly reported raising $51,758.00 for the year. Daly has been viewed by some as the “establishment candidate” but his disappointing fundraising position has me wondering if he’s going to pull a repeat of his 2010 run for Orange County Supervisor and drop out before the race begins.
I’ll give my analysis of what this all means in later posts. In the meantime, here are the links to the report pages and the summaries. You can check out who gave, and how much.
I suspect that Daly is less likely to pull out than to be the beneficiary of anonymous independent expenditures.
The expenditures do tell you who has been working hardest on the race, though, don’t they?
