There’s been considerable speculation that the recall of three conservative members of the Fullerton City Council led by Friends for Fullerton’s Future blogger Tony Bushala is less about the mishandling of the Kelly Thomas case and more about replacing city council members with Bushala cronies who will do his bidding. It’s no longer “speculation” but rather “confirmation.” Travis Kiger, a blogger for FFFF and a Fullerton Planning Commissioner appointed with the thinnest application we’ve ever seen has announced he is running for Fullerton City Council.
The FFFF post is remarkbale light on content and the comments are fun to read. In his planning commissioner application, Kiger wrote that his qualifications for planning was that he was “independent, honest and anaytical.” Well, given his ties to Bushala who spent $150,000 of his own money on the recall effort, we’re not so sure about Kiger’s independence. And with that statement, so much for honesty. Analytical, OK. One of of three isn’t bad for a baseball player.
For his day job, Kiger is a web services manager for Precept, a company that provides health management and employee benefits services to the web. Before Precept, he worked for the Internet division of the Walt Disney Company. Kiger has exceptional technical skills that enabled him to secure great jobs without the benefit of a college degree.
A significant number of Fullerton voters want to see the three conservative council members recalled for their inaction and silence when it comes to the Kelly Thomas case; Kelly’s father, Ron Thomas, has made statements the distance himself from Bushala’s brigade. The real question is do Fullerton voters want to turn over control of their city council to Bushala? Any disagreement with the talking points of the day subjects writers to ridicule and accusations. So its not surprising that Ron Thomas wants little to do with the Bushala blog.
The only question remains is when does Chris Thompson pull papers to run for one of the other seats?
So if you’re a Fullerton voter who wants to punish the “three bald tires” on the council but doesn’t want to turn over the keys to your city to Bushala, the clear alternative are candidates not affiliated with the FFFF who are now organizing and preparing to pull papers as well.
“.. the clear alternative are “LIBERAL” candidates not affiliated with the FFFF who are now organizing and preparing to pull papers as well.”
You “LEFT” out the key word Dan.
Liberal – Liberal & Liberal
Great Post Dan! Is it true Camille and Becky P. are cleaning your house as a condition of the judgment?
Who’s the dork with the saw?
I think you read into that Junior.
Observer — no that isn’t true. I can’t say Camille keeps a clean house when you consider the mess that piles up in front of the family PC night after night.
Have you checked Thomas Gordon’s Twitter feed yet? If not, check it out. You might have to scroll down a message or two but you’ll have a good laugh
Oh yeah I read into Dan – exactly what your intention is – because you have said it before – you want to replace the 3 turds with liberal (I want to say turds, but I won’t) – or did I?
Anyway, what you are doing is not helpful to the focus of the effort – getting rid of the 3 turds who had a great deal to do with setting up the situation that got Kelly Thomas killed.
so why get rid of three turds and replace them with candidates bought and paid for by Bushala. Pot, meet kettle.
I hope you enjoyed watching Pedroza get his head handed to him on OC Political. Must be tough when he can’t delete or edit comments and the anonymous commenters go after him.
I seriously dobt that will happen – you already said tha CT is not running.
Besides – better bought by TB than the FPD.
Really? You want a Bushala candidate? How is that better? I don’t want someone who owes their position to a developer with a vested interest. Stay off this site and go back to FFFF.
Just heard from Mr. Thompson ; he is NOT a candidate.
Thanks for this article, Dan. Its about time someone started asking questions about Mr. B and his motives. The OC Register has been tripping over itself fawning over him and CT, and of course the LA Times has little interest in what’s going on behind the Orange Curtain. Keep asking the tough questions, Dan!
Well said!
Another cop.
Cop.
I’m sorry, was I supposed to be a “cop” or “another cop”? Either way, you’re not even close, Ace. I see you embrace the same philosophy as Tony B. When confronted with disagreement, cry “conspiracy” and use insults. Didn’t work this time. Reach into your Official Dick Nixon bag of dirty tricks and try again.
Congrats Dan – you have the dirty cops on your side.
Another candidate from the Bushala circle who has pulled papers is Greg Sebourn, who ran unsuccessfully for council in 2010.
I’ve met Greg before snd he struck me as thoughtful, smart and conservative.
That said, this entire affari is really about Bushala. Factor out his checkbook, and instead of a recall, it would be some anonymous gadflies on a local blog, getting nowhere. Kiger is Tony Bushala’s creature. If the recall succeeds AND he gets elected, it will be entirely due to Bushala’s checkbook.
And Junior, let me say this: I warned you years ago about the kind of person Art Pedroza was, and you now acknowledge I was correct. With Tony Bushala, you basically have Pedroza with a multi-million dollar checking account. I don’t think he is the extreme narcissist that Pedroza is, but he exhibits dishonesty, hypocrisy, a genuine streak of viciousness and a strong propensity to twisting, rather than telling, the truth.
He and his cohorts exploited the tragic killing of a homeless to re-run the 2010 council election, in which the lost 2 out of 3 seats. One of the councilmembers they’re targeting will be gone at the end of the year, in any case. This isn’t a crusade for liberty, it’s just a small faction, led by a rich guy with nothing else in his life, exploiting the recall process to take over the council.
Matt’s just mad Tony exposed his sham of a job getting money to listen to JohnKen. Go back to your lair of pedo-protectors and closeted Republicans, and leave the conversation to the adults.
Actually, monitoring media including listening to radio programs when your client is being discussed, as well as reviewing what’s written about them in print and online is a legitimate function of a PR or public affairs professional. The reports are garnered for clients on a daily, weekly or monthly basis and represent a legitimate billable service. Analyzing what’s said and what’s written helps organizations make appropriaet adjustments to their communications and many times, helps them change policy based on public reaction.
If you don’t think your columns are not reviewed, copies and presented in the form of clip reports by PIOs all over Orange County, you’d be mistaken
You’re on target, Matthew. You really have to ask yourself, as bad as the three of these guys messed up the Thomas killing, and as much as they deserve to get the boot, is Tony B’s the best way. Would the city be better off with four (counting Bruce W) on the Council? People really need to take a close look at Tony’s FFFF blog to see what kind of person he his. Anyone who thinks he is concerned with the plight of the homeless will get a quick education.
Whenever I read ignorant statements like that from Gustavo — uncritically swallowing Bushala’s distortions and lies about my work for the CFCOC, my public role regarding Msgr. Urell, not to mention your bizarre, out-of-the-blue comments about closeted Republicans — it amazes me that Village Voice Media employs you as editor-in-chief of on of their publications. Was the available talent pool that shallow? You’re sloppy, impulsive and think figuratively screaming at people online is a substitute for marshaling facts into a coherent argument.
I mean, hats off for riding the “Ask A Mexican” schtick as far as you have, but absent that you’re a hack, and not a very good one.
A message needs to be sent that this type of behavior by sworn officers will not be tolerated. It seems to me that the 3 councilmembers being recalled were a major factor in setting up the culture of corruption that led to the killing of Kelly Thomas. If it takes a Tony Bushala to send that message then so be it.
Both progressives and Bushalibertarians seem to like Jane Rands of the Green Party, who I think will take one of the seats. (My guess is that she’ll run against McKinley, but that is just a guess. She’s been circulating papers for all three seats.) Two other Dems will also be running, so there will be a choice available. There is of course room for a liberal-libertarian division of the non-Rands seats here, but I haven’t seen anyone but me noting the possibility.
Greg – You haven’t anyone else note the possibility because it is f**king impossibility. For a Greener to win a council seat in conservative OC, much less very conservative Fullerton, would require the intervention of an omnipotent supernatural being – City of Laguna Beach not withstanding.
In June I’ll remind you you said that, junior.
Shut up all of you. Don’t you know we need to demand answers from Matthew Cunningham even though I don’t live in Orange and dont have skin in the game there. Allow me to shout down LibOc bloggers for not living in Santa Ana while I comment on others cities at will simply because I despise someone like Jerbal. I call him a hypocrite even though I am stalking him on the Internet with mt ex-wife’s LexisNexis account. Watch out. Here I come
Maybe you all are right about TB – here is a YouTube video expose of who this man really is:
