The End of “A Charlie Brown Christmas” in Costa Mesa?

After 44 years there will be no more “Snoopy House”, as my kids call it, in Costa Mesa.  Here is the link to story in the Daily Pilot, http://www.dailypilot.com/news/tn-dpt-1130-snoopy-20111129,0,5696849.story.

You can read the facts in the Daily Pilot story, but I just want to want to share my personal sadness, devastation really, at losing this holiday tradition.  My oldest is 31 and we took him to see The Snoopy House every year since he was in diapers.  When he came home to visit last year he took his girlfriend to see it even though he is a grown man now.  As the birth of my daughters followed, they went every year as well.  I am a huge Charles Schulz fan, I have even been to the Charles Schulz museum in Santa Rosa, and loved The Snoopy House as much as my kids.  I literally don’t know of a kid that my kids went to school with who didn’t go to see that unforgettable display every year.  We’ve even taken our dogs.

I want to say to Jim Jordan and his family who have put this display on every year for the nothing more than the sheer joy of it and their unselfish desire to share it with us all, thank you from the bottom of all our hearts.  You will never be forgotten, and we will never stop missing you.  I wish, okay I hope, a miracle will come along and save your beautiful display and the home were it sat every year through many generations of many a family.  If not, well, Merry Christmas Charlie Brown.
