Comic Books Go Political in Long Beach this Weekend

The Long Beach Comic Con, which started two years ago, has grown into a great event and since it’s a smaller show compared to the massive San Diego ComicCon, you can easily work the room and interact with writers and artists of all genres. The show opens tomorrow through Sunday at the Long Beach Convention Center.

With 2012’s election cycle looming, expect to see comic book renderings of some of your favorite political leaders.  President Obama and Sarah Palin seem to be the most popular, but even Hillary Clinton, Michelle Obama, Joe Biden and Ayn Rand have titles that range from factual accounts of their lives to outright absurd story lines.

It doesn’t matter than Palin is not a candidate for president, but she and President Obama, are irresistable for comic book story lines (check out a run of the title Bomb Queen, a terrorst “President Palin” tries to wipe out without success from the new White House in Alaska) as the photos below suggest.

There will be plenty of horror film celebrities and Comic royalty at the event in Long Beach this weekend; kids under 10 can get in for free.  The event is at the Long Beach Convention Center Saturday and Sunday.  Enjoy some of the photos below; shots from the 2010 show are after the strong of other political comics.  This show will tide comic book and sci-fi fans over until the WonderCon event moves to Anaheim in the Spring.
