Pro-Amante Supporters Target Rotary

As the number of signatures added to recall Tustin Mayor Jerry Amante increase daily, so are the level of attacks by pro-Amante supporters against perceived enemies of the Il Duce of Tustin.

We’ve been sent a copy of a letter (Here)sent by someone with bad handwriting without a typed signature line or a return address that attacks Jill Spencer, a former executive with the Rotary Club of Tustin/Santa Ana, because she attended the Tustin Chili Cookoff wearing a “Recall Amante” T-shirt.  Jill is pictured above at said event engaging one of Amante’s supporters; she’s in the red hat. We can tell the writer is someone who says his name is John P…something…

Here’s theRotaryLetter.

The gist of it is an attack on Jill Spencer for engaging in politics against the Mayor and some claims made by the writer don’t pass the smell test.

The writer essentailly suggests that Spencer routine engaged in political action while serving in a capacity for the Tuston/Santa Ana Rotary.

He writes:  “In the past years, Rotary leaders have been made aware of Jill’s political actvities within the club but nothing has been done so it must mean that Rotarians are in fact allowed to mix Rotary and politics?

Jill is an obnoxious and pushy individual and no one wants to deal with her because she retaliates when others disagree with her….I hope you have the ethics and integrity to investigate her, in the name of the Rotary.”

The last sentence is priceless.  Let’s drop the other shoe and see if it fits?  Replace the word “Jill” with “Jerry” (as in Amante) and the word “him” instead of “her” and see if the sentence still holds up.

Spencer sent an email suggesting that supporters of Amante are “up to old tricks” using “slurs and untruths.”  She maintains she wore a Rotary shirt and apron at the event with the Kiwanis and Lions Club.  Spencer says she had nothing to do with a Rotary scholarship winner who spoke out againsty Amante in a public meeting (as referenced in the letter) and Spencer reminds us that she resigned from her post in the Rotary back in April.

Of course, Amante has had other run ins with the Rotary over the years which was used as one of the reasons for recalling Amante in the first place.  So John, if you’re out there, tell us who you are and lets engage in a real debate with facts instead of rumors.
