SANTA ANA —Judge Tam Nomoto Schumann set a hearing for July 5 to consider whether to issue a preliminary injunction to stop the planned layoff of more than 100 workers represented by the Costa Mesa City Employees’ Association. In the lawsuit filed earlier this week the Employees’ Association requested the planned layoffs be stopped because they violate both state law and the workers contract.
Judge Schumann declined to grant a Temporary Restraining Order on Wednesday since the scheduled hearing will take place before the scheduled layoffs. The decision to not grant a Temporary Restraining Order has no bearing on the merits of the complaint.
