Congratulations Nadia Davis-Lockyer, You Reached Higher Office before Claudia Alvarez!

Now that this election is over, I would like to take this moment to congratulate a former OC elected who just got elected to the Alameda County Board of Supervisors. Formers SAUSD Board member, Nadia Davis-Lockyer has won her election to the board by a wide margin.  For those who don’t remember, Nadia won election to the SAUSD board in 1998, defeating Art Pedroza in his first of three failed elections. During that term, there was much talk of her succeeding Lou Correa as the Assemblymember of the 69th District. Unfortunately she was defeated for a second term in 2002, due to vicious attacks on her led by another aspiring Assemblymember, then and current COUNCILWOMAN Claudia Alvarez.  There were times during the Nativo recall when known Claudia Alvarez backers would stalk Ms. Davis-Lockyer yelling vicious insults.

Well Nadia is back with a vengeance and I am happy to say has reached higher office before Claudia Alvarez, who remains a Councilmember after two disastrous runs for the Assembly. The most recent one Alvarez lost by 20 points to our current Assemblyman, Jose Solorio. Davis-Lockyer’s district will cover the cities of Hayward, Union City, Newark, and half of Fremont. I have some family who live in Hayward and was more than happy to encourage them to vote for Nadia this year.  I know she will accomplish great things on the Board, and we can count on her to allow all public speakers to speak their mind and not interrupt them simply because she does not like what they have to say. Nadia is a believer in the First Amendment.

I personally have met Nadia and worked with her in the past when she sat on the Planned Parenthood of Orange and San Bernardino County Community Action Fund Board. She was a kind and pleasant person to work with and always treated people with the respect they deserved. I am honored to know her and feel there is no better person to have the good fortune of reaching higher office. I know she will go far and I know she and her husband, State Treasurer Bill Lockyer will make a great political dynastic team for California. Congrats again Nadia, and as for Claudia, keep chasing that dream of  a higher office.
