Yesterday, the Board considered a proposal from Supervisor Bill Campbell to take Orange County out of the dark ages of back room political deals and insider influence trading into the 21st century world of government transparency. The proposal itself did not go nearly far enough, but it was a first step that required registration of paid lobbyists.

Breaking: Van Tran Concedes to Loretta Sanchez

We have just learned that Assemblyman Van Tran has conceded defeat to Loretta Sanchez. We have confirmed that Tran called Sanchez directly this evening to concede. As of 5 pm today the Registrar of Voters showed Sanchez expanding her lead to 9,752 votes. In order to win, Tran would have needed to pull 80% of the remaining ballots.
