Another version of the Van Tran ‘I am a Child Molester’ comment

Assemblyman Van Tran

Sometimes the greatest praise is imitation. Sometimes imitation is simply inevitable. Sometimes an unfortunate phrase made by a candidate can prove to be a bit of a problem. When Loretta Sanchez commented in a Spanish language interview that “Vietnamese were trying to take her seat” her opponent Van Tran seized on that comment, took it out of context and made it out to be something of a scandal when it wasn’t.

Well, Assemblyman Van Tran is the victim of his own case of hoof in mouth disease. I posted this morning a YouTube video of his comment made during a debate with Congresswoman Loretta Sanchez where he stated “I am a Child Molester.” A different presentation of that comment showed up on YouTube today. I like it better than mine.

  1. Oh please, Chris! Loretta’s remarks about the Vietnamese weren’t taken out of context. Quite the opposite — they were reported as part of her entire answer. The “taken out of context” charge is a total crock.

Trying to draw a comparison between that and what this video does — which IS taking his comment out of context — isn’t just a stretch. It’s more like the distance between Pluto and the Sun.

    • Van Tran tells Vietnamese audiances all the time that they should vote for him because he is Vietnamese. That is no far different from the what Loretta was talking about was Van Tran trying to use his Vietnamese ethnicity to motivate Vietnamese-Americans to vote for him to take the seat for the Vietnamese communtity.

I have made it clear that the commets related to child molestation are out of context. Loretta’s comments were also not taken in the context of what Van has been saying for the past year.

So if I concede that Van Tran isn’t really a child molester, will you concede that he has been the one doing the race-baiting?

  2. What Van was doing was using sarcasm to point out the ludicrous, desperate charges Loretta Sanchez was making — and you know as well as I do the accusations she was leveling are preposterous.

  3. “desperate charges”

Today, I found a act of desperation, reminding me of Tan Nguyen.

Worst of all, it was very poor taste. Not something a gentleman would do, most of all someone who resopects woman, regardless if they agree with them or not.

There is this Anti-Loretta hit piece that implies that Loretta perfume brand is garbage.

I don’t know about you Matt but if Van Tran made the implication that my wife smelled like garbage, he would need to so some serious retreating.

But I’m sure I would relent because while Van Tran is clearly no gentleman here, I always will be despite my feelings, strong or not.

  4. I watched the debate. And then looked up Van Tran’s record. he votes for lead in candy, to leave expired baby formula on grocery shelves to be sold, to allow use of hazardous chemicals next to elementary schools, to allow toxic chemicals in baby bottles, etc. He must HATE children! That’s his real record. Yet he tries to say what a good family man he is, how he has 2 children, how his wife is beautiful. His wife plead guily to 3 counts of insurance fraud in cahoots with her chiropractor brother who had her file false insurance claims. Get rid of the “Godfather” once and for all!

    • OMG. Show me the bill that says, “Be it resolved, there shall be lead in candy.”

This is a classic liberal attack line that opposing the intrusive regulatory state equals being against children. What a crock.

  5. Van Tran refused to condemn John McCain calling the Vietnamese “gooks.” He stood silently as Bob Dornan filled a book (called “Shut Up Fag”) with a 120 pages of racist and bigoted comments including the use of the terms “lesbian spearchucker” in a sentence. He tells us to check our facts and then refuses to answer questions or turn over documents.

    • As of September 30, 2010, Van Tran has received two contributions from Country First PAC. That’s John McCain’s PAC. The contributions total $5,000 and were recorded as having been received on 6/19/09 and 9/23/09. Would be bad form to criticize an early supporter. Just saying.

  6. Van Tran is a man of strong ethics and has set a fine example for all regugees/immigrants to emulate. Some of you out there take LIFE for granted in this very promising country. Please trust me, Van Tran will give everything he has to contribute his talents and selfless service to our district, state, and nation. Please vote for him regardless of your races – black, hispanic, asian or white. Van Tran is the representive we need to send to Washington and yes HE WILL KICK SOME BUTT OUT THERE FOR US – THE AMERICANS (NOT MEXICANS OR CHINESE OR GERMAN). MAY GOD BLESS VAN TRAN IN THE UP COMING ELECTION. AMEN.

    • What about the Italians and the French? Seriously, the words “Van Tran” and “talent” should never be in the same sentence.

  7. Van Tran is a true hero for what he has been through in personal life as a person and also for what he has achieved living the American Dream.
