Santa Ana Council Members Martinez and Tinajero run ‘Pay to Play’ racket in Santa Ana

September 13, 2010 24

This is probably one of the most egregious examples of “pay to play” revealed since former Ward 3 Councilmember Ted Moreno was convicted ten years ago on September 5, 2000 for accepting $31,000 in illegal campaign contributions. Senator Correa Applauds Governor’s Signature of Chelsea’s Law

September 11, 2010 0

“A crime against a child is despicable. Sex crimes are crimes against an individual’s soul, a young victim’s life is changed beyond repair, and that is morally reprehensible. As a co-author of Chelsea’s Law, I am very pleased to see that the Governor has signed this very important measure. Statistics show that on the average, a sex predator strikes eight times before he or she is apprehended. As legislators and as a society, we have to do everything we can to stop individuals who commit these horrible crimes before they strike again. One victim is one too many. AB 1844 is a good measure and part of a continuing process to press for greater protections for our children and put away these types of predators once and for all.”

September 11, 2010 0

In this week’s address, President Obama marked the ninth anniversary of the 9/11 attacks as a National Day of Service and Remembrance to honor those who lost their lives. If there is a lesson to be drawn on this anniversary, it is that the United States is one nation and one people united by common ideals. By keeping our commitment to those protect the country and their families, by giving back to our communities, and by serving people in need, we reaffirm those ideals in defiance of those who would do us harm.
