Mayor Pulido Double Dipping on Health Insurance

Miguel Pulido

So imagine for a minute you have two PART-TIME jobs. Now imagine both part time jobs offer you a full package of health, dental and vision benefits with NO charge to you out of your pay check. You are probably asking, where do I apply for this job. Well I got the answer for you, apparently it is being the Mayor of Santa Ana.  Turns out the Voice of OC  has uncovered Mayor Pulido’s unethical use of our health care system which is costing taxpayers nearly $35,000 a year. WOW! This after the City Manager’s office tried to lie and deny that Miguel Pulido took the city’s health insurance. In a time when both the OCTA and the City are broke, why is the Mayor wasting taxpayer dollars so he can get health care. He lives in Floral Park in a gated estate that would be the envy of many Hollywood movie starts. I am sure he can afford to purchase his own health insurance.

UPDATE: The Voice of OC is reporting that It’s Not Just Health Benefits — Pulido Double – Dipping on Cars Too. Mayor Pulido receives a car $6,000 car allowance from Santa Ana and a free car from AQMD.

Carlos Salinas de Gotari

Instead he is obtaining TWO health insurance plans with full coverage which has caused thousands of Latino bus riders to be screwed. This has caused thousands of Latino library users and park goers to be screwed. And of course nothing but silence from the self-proclaimed “Moses” of the latino people, Art Pedroza. Of course I am more than happy to point out this injustice. This reminds me of former Mexican President Carlos Salinas de Gotari, who literally bankrupted the nation of Mexico when he and his brother stole from the treasure to pad their own pockets. WHo will the Mayor and his attack dog Claudia Alvarez blame; The Usual Suspects, the Grand Jury, latino racism? There seriously needs to be some investigation and outrage.

There is a candidate for mayor this year who I believe we can trust to change that. I do not believe it is an accident that the year Santa Ana has a chance to see real change is happening in 2010. I believe the Mexican founding fathers chose this year as a chance for all Santa Ana residents, Latinos and non-Latinos alike to free themselves from the chains of these “Gachupines”. This is why we must all come together and elect Alfredo Amezcua as mayor of this city. I do believe he will be the change this city needs. Lets make 2010 a year for liberation and honest governance much like those who came before us made 1810 and 1910 a year to bring change. Unlike the other times, we have the power to do it at the ballot booth, lets make it happen.

  1. Change the system and pay the mayor and council a salary, and stop conflict of interest by forbiding any other commission or boards from any other government bodies or private enterprise.

As long as the city(s) dont employ our (their) mayor(s), they can go out and get whatever they can. The can sell everything the taxpayer bought, getting all of these legal kickbacks.

  2. Cook,

The city of Bell pays their people well… too well in fact. Paying well and in excess does not cure the fraud. It is about something other than what you present ……compensation.

The Voice of OC article states:

“Such double coverage violates OCTA policy. The agency requires its 18 directors to reimburse the authority for health benefits if they are also covered by another agency, said OCTA spokesman Joel Zlotnik.”

The OJ juice is apparently OK with these types of transgressions relative to candidates for Mayor of Santa Ana as the OC juice blog team is totally ignoring this. Fundraisers are their issue….can anyone take anything they say serious?

      • Chris,

How is Santa Ana’s mayor suppose to make a living if all his time is spent on city business for 400 a month?

Currently He and the others like him get pad their income with these peevishly(sp) hidden benefit-pay streams.

It that way you don’t know who they work for.

Make them employees and pay an honest salary. (not like Bell)

  3. What an insult to other Mayors, commissioners, and council members who have real life jobs and manage to do their civic responsibilities.

What you propose is being mayor a life long professional career. We know what this produces…….a third world city( Santa Ana),Iraq, China, The old Soviet Union and all other third world countries.

  4. Dr. Lomeli,
Are you saying it’s OK for you to make lots of money but not my good friends Sal Tinajero, Claudia Alverez or Mayor Miguel Pulido? As Mr. Tinajero’s former planning commissioner who resigned to spend more time with my mother, I must correct your assertions. As soon as Mr. Tinajero is re-elected he plans to re-appoint me to planning commission due to my extensive knowledge of baseball and stalking and pay me inordinate sums of money and perks to compensate me for the 45 minutes I will be forced to listen to the “Usual Suspects” every other Monday evening. But enough about me, don’t you have teeth to clean or a fundraiser to plan?
