I’ve never been to Alabama, but have three beautiful nieces who live there. They have finely honed Southern accents and conservative principals, courtesy of their locale and their Dad, a career military officer. One niece took my wife to town to see the statue of the “Bow-Evil” (sound it out) which liberated Alabama’s economy from Cotton-only to more diversified agriculture and manufacturing as a point of local pride. I don’t see the girls as much as I’d like to but do find them special kids.
That all said, for my conservative friends here in Orange County bemoaning the loss of “their country” and seeking ways to “get their country back” I say: “Alabama is calling you.” As evidence, here’s a series of recent YouTube videos of candidates for office featuring some of the best TeaBagger-Americans I have ever had the pleasure of watching and listening to. Congressional candidate Rick Barber clearly needs to read some American history books. And he clearly can’t distinguish between Islam and Islamic jihadists.
