WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congresswoman Loretta Sanchez (CA-47), Vice Chair of the House Homeland Security Committee, today issued the following statement regarding today’s unanimous Senate vote for confirmation of John Pistole, former deputy director of the FBI, as Administrator of the Transportation Security Administration.
“I commend the Senate for finally moving to put politics aside and confirm John Pistole as head of the Transportation Security Administration (TSA).
“In the seventeen months the TSA has been without a leader, our country has experienced two airline-related terrorist incidents and the constant threat of further attacks on our country. While I am disappointed with the lengthy and partisan process it took to confirm a capable Administrator, I am looking forward to working with John Pistole and glad he was confirmed. He is a strong and experienced public servant who will bring a lifetime of law enforcement, counterterrorism, and intelligence knowledge to this critical agency.
“I look forward to working with him to improve TSA—specifically its intelligence coordination and sharing operations, workforce challenges, and efficient use of advanced technological resources to protect this nation’s citizens and vital interests.â€
