Orange County Labor Federation Passes Resolution in Support of Capistrano Unified Education Association Strike

Thursday night, April 22nd, the Orange County Labor Federation passed a unanimous resolution in support of the Capistrano Unified Education Association (CUEA, the teachers’ union) strike in the Capistrano Unified School District.

Whereas the teachers in the Capistrano School District have been engaged with an anti-worker school board;

Whereas, teachers are those who deliver in the classroom to our children;

Whereas the district has failed to negotiate in good faith;

Whereas the CUSD Board of Education refuses to revoke its unilaterally imposed contract of permanent, over-the-top cuts in wages and benefits totalling more than ten percent;

Whereas the California Teachers Association has asked the Orange County Labor Federation for support;

Therefore be it resolved that the Orange County Labor Federation’s working men and women fully support this cause for teachers and will do whatever necessary to resolve this amicably between the parties.

Let it be further resolved that the Orange County Labor Federation supports quality education to be delivered by quality teachers.

The Orange County Labor Federation also resolved to authorize strike sanctions if appropriate under the rules and bylaws of the Federation and the AFL-CIO.
